“Oh my god, Grace you have to fill me in on the hunk; I mean, did he really save your soul and everything?” Grace nodded slightly, the colour draining from her cheeks. She needed refuge, a place of solace but she promised her friends no more. “So when does tennis start up again?” She questioned the girls knowing she would get a decent rise out of them.

“You play tennis?” The soft, stern voice hit her and her stomach churned. His blue eyes starred at her in question, waiting for her reply “Yes, I do… Umm I mean I did. I haven’t played in quite sometime; I’ve probably lost my touch.” She smiled at the handsome stranger, the boy that had the nerve to question her motive on Romeo and Juliet. “Maybe you and I could play sometime, yeah?” When he smiled at her, her heart stopped beating and she almost forgot to take a breath. Breathe sweetness, don’t give him the satisfaction. Dominic’s frail voice reverberated through the shadows in her mind, her breath came to her in a small huff but it was enough to catch the thrilling scent of the blue eyed boy standing so close to her. “Yeah, that would be great but I have to warn you, I really haven’t played in quite some time. I’ll be a little rusty,” He chuckled slightly at her comment and her stomach flipped. He held out his hand to her intending to introduce himself, but she just stared silently at him; other than Dominic she had not had any sort of interaction with anyone, let alone an overly handsome stranger. It would be rude not to take his hand. A matter-of-factly command rushed through her in the shape of Dominic’s sweet voice, so she took the hand he offered and smiled “Grace,” His face lit up at the sight of her warm smile “Christian, I look forward to our endearing match,” He kissed the back of her hand just like Dominic had done to Jasmine, but Christian turned her hand in his and stroked her palm; Grace watched as his crystal blue eyes hazed over to a bleak grey, “You may have suffered in the past but you will have a great future, the scars will heal with time but you must be patient or you will lose the thing you hold dear to you,” Grace felt him shiver and his body slumped forward slightly, She pulled his arm closer to her and held his shoulders.

His face held the lines of an old man but she watched in awe as they slowly disappeared, the colour returned to his face and she forced a smile upon his face. “Sorry I didn’t mean to do that… I never mean it, it just happens… Sorry,” Christian tried to smile again but weariness flooded over him and again he became weak. Grace threw one of his arms over her shoulder and led him from the cafeteria, Stay with him Grace, he is weak and he has an amazing gift. I felt the power surge from him when he held your hand… when he held you in drama. Grace flushed red, so he had seen that; Embarrassment hit her hard and she whispered a plea of forgiveness. Its ok honey, I hold no resentment; I do not own you. Grace led the half dead new comer into one of the empty staff rooms and let him gently fall back onto a couch. His eyes fluttered open and he was met with a pale white face filled with blue eyes, just like his. Was she like him, did she wield a power that neither she nor anyone else understood? Was she tossed away like a dirty dish rag just because she was different? As he read her face, he was hit with a sudden feeling of anxiousness and sorrow, he felt her overwhelming fear but he was to scared to hold her, to try to comfort her incase she drained his stamina once more. “I’m sorry, I honestly didn’t mean to do that, sometimes it happens even if I don’t wish it,” She smiled at his and took his hand, immediately he felt heat rush through him, he was filled with gold light and his strength returned to him. “It’s ok, I understand.” Grace didn’t press him for answers, she knew there was something different with him but he would tell her in his own time.

“It doesn’t usually drain me like that…” He watched her expression, curious as to how well she was taking the current situation “I know you might think I’m strange, and I understand perfectly if you no longer want to continue with this conversation or if you would like to cancel or future tennis match…” He was cut short by her hand covering his mouth; it was pure heaven to him. The velvet soft of her skin sent electricity running up his spin, “Can you just explain to my why using such a wonderful gift left you so drained of energy?” He sat and stared at her, even when her hand fell away his mouth was left gaping open. “Well…I…I don’t even know what to say or how to tell you, no one has ever been so interested.” His eyes met hers and Grace immediately felt the connection, there was something different here, some force was at play that was out of her control. “I just want to know about the gift you hold, I know what its like to be different and it would be nice to have someone to share it with,” A wave of nausea and jealousy rushed over her, and she knew Dominic was with her, listening in.

“I’ve had it since I was 10, I see things, good things and bad things, the future, the past; things people want and desire, but there is a catch. I can only do it, I can only feel these things when I touch someone; most of the time I can control whether I want to see these things, and it doesn’t usually drain so much power from me.” She looked at him in awe, this boy; this adolescent teenager was telling her of a gift she had never experienced even in her wildest dreams. “Are you sure you want me too keep going?” Grace took Christians hand in hers and almost straight away she felt the heat between them, “Please,” He shook his hand in amazement but continued his description of his extraordinary talent “You are different, I can see you past and your future, but I cant sense the things you want or feel, I can’t read you like I can everyone else; using my gift on you drains my strength, my energy is drained from me yet when you touch me I feel heat, warmth… You drain the very essence of me when I feel your mind yet your touch feeds me life… its very confusing and very irritating. I swear I’m not saying there is something wrong with you; but there is definitely something different…” Again his eyes met hers and flames licked at her insides, she felt the warmth as he did, but she also felt his strength draining from him slowly. “If it drains you so much why do you use it?” She questioned his motive, pushing him ever so slightly

“Like I said, it only drains me when I use my gift on you, never in the 8 years that I have had this gift has anyone ever had that effect on me,” Colour rushed to his face as he admitted her claim over him, she made him feel different, just her touch was enough to make his stomach churn.

The moment he stood to leave, he seen the stranger move from his table; he knew if he stayed to witness the coming events he wouldn’t be able to leash the darkness that stirred within him. Every angel had a dark side whether they like it or not; jealousy was a strange feeling to him and the bond he shared with Grace only made it stronger. He was warned every waking moment how the feelings of a bond relationship would become harder to deal with the longer he was tied to her; and breaking the tie he now shared with her would be painful, not only for him but for Grace.
