The glare in the hospital was almost unbearable but Lauren followed silently behind Jacob and the nurse as she took them to the doctor’s office. Jacob sat quietly in the corner of the little room, not a word escaped his mouth, but whether it was because he was scared or had nothing to say, Lauren didn’t know. She sat down beside him and took his hand in hers; she squeezed it slightly just to let Jacob know she was there for him. The doctor sat on the front of his chair and put his folded fingers on the wooden desk that sat in front of him “Jacob, I’m afraid we have some bad news and some good news…” He paused; Lauren thought it was just for a dramatic affect but the doctor soon downcast his eyes and sighed “I’m afraid the family we managed to track down form the blood sample you gave us came back with some negative and very bad news Jacob. 17 years ago you and your parents were in a terrible car accident, a drunk driver ran a red light and collided with the front left side of the car, instantly killing your mother and left your father on life-support for 2 weeks. Fortunately you manage to miraculously escape without even a scratch. You along with your month old sister were pulled unharmed from the wreck, it was a miracle that you both survived and…”

“Wait, sister…?” Jacob questioned.

The doctor nodded slowly “Yes, your sister. The two of you were separated after the accident and sent to orphanages because neither your mother nor you father had any living relatives, your aunt was killed in a plane crash and your father was an only child. And your parents will stated that if they were to die of a young age the two of you were to be split up… Silly if you ask me but it was their dying wishes” He took in a breath and waited for Jacob to say something. Lauren sat with her mouth hanging open and Jacob was as pale as a ghost, neither of them said a word but Jacob stood and walked to the door, he was about to open it when the doctor added “If we can find her Jacob, we can save your life” Jacob just nodded and walked out of the room. Lauren stood to follow him but added to the doctor before she left “I think that might have been a go ahead and try…” She gave him a small smile then ran after her best friend. She was running down the white hall when a flash of pain hit her like a bolt of lightening. Screams erupted from her mouth as she fell to the ground gripping her head, but just like every other time darkness engulfed her, it swept over her like the blanket of night. And of course just like every other time she blacked out, the ring of astounding like blasted out of the pitch black surrounding. Her mother stood there smiling at her, her golden hand reached out and touched the pearly white skin of her daughter’s skin “You’ve done it my dear…” unfortunately this dream only lasted a matter of seconds, her mother was being pulled away from her. When she opened her eyes her mother was staring down at her, those piercing blue eyes invaded her mind and soul. Her body was shaking violently as the nurses bought her around slowly but the eyes remained blurred right in front of her. Lauren reached up her hand to stroke the distorted black mop of hair, but it wasn’t long and silky, it was short and rough and felt like it hadn’t been washed in weeks. “What the hell is going on here” Lauren’s vision returned to her and the blurred face became clear, She gasped quickly as the realization of who was holding her limp body washed over her, it was not her mother that the eyes had belonged to.
