“Come on Kitty Kat I think it’s time you were getting up. We’ve got a long day ahead of us” Kiki jumped up suddenly remembering the night before. She sat back down on the bed and smiled “Why don’t you come and make me” She laid back and pulled the silk sheets over her head. The door opened and she heard footsteps approach the bed. A hand slid under the sheet and trailed up her side; it reached her bony ribs and stopped. Koga pulled back the sheets to find her curled up in a ball laughing “Now your still half cat and every cat has a weak point” Koga caressed her side then trailed over her stomach, up her collar bone to the fluffy ears on her head. He rubbed her ears and she started to purr, but realizing what she was doing, Kiki pushed him away and jumped out of bed “Ok, Ok I’m coming”

Kiki was startled when the door swung open and one of the maids came running in “I beg your pardon madam but your cousin is calling for you in the stables…I’m afraid something terrible has happened”

Kiki ran out the door closely followed by Koga. Kiki nearly retched when the smell of wet dog overcame her at the stable door, but it was nearly drowned out by the up-rising smell of blood. Koga pushed the large wooden doors open and they both gasped, He walked through the bloodied masses of what use to be horses to the other end of the barn “I think I found Chastity” He called to Kiki. She knelt down beside a mass of what she thought was a leg…or maybe a head “I think I did too” She called back. Kiki stood up quickly and looked around, she ran up to one of the stable doors and let out a loud cry, not only was Cheater, her beloved blue roan stallion spread all over the stable but Kia’s motionless body lay intact at her feet. Kiki fell to the ground and cry. Koga took her in his arms but she pushed him away and fell on Kia’s body. As she did the little wolf whimpered, Kiki to her companions head in her hands “Oh Kia, I’m so sorry I failed you” She buried her head in the grey fur and cried

“Kiki you did not fail me, if anything I failed you. Your brother is in grave danger; you must ride to his aid as soon as possible”

“No, I’m not leaving her without you” Kia lifted her head and looked her master in the eyes “You have been my most loyal master…and friend, But my time has come. You brother needs help and there is nothing you can do to save me” The little wolf started to cough and retch blood “Kiki never forget what is truly in your heart. As long as you’re loyal to your heart you will do the right thing” Kiki hugged Kia

“I’m so sorry I couldn’t save you”
”But you did. Did you forget the day you took me in as a pup, you saved me and gave me the gift of life, and not even your magic can do wonders now. You let me live and that’s all that matters too me. You have been my best and only friend; I will never forget you…” Kia’s head fell from her hands and lay still on the hay.

“Kia please don’t leave me…please” Koga knelt down beside Kiki and hugged her

“Please don’t leave me…ever” She whispered in his ear

“I’m not going anywhere, and Kia will always be in your heart” At the mention of Kia’s name Kiki let out a moan and clutched Koga with all her might. He lifted her onto her feet and wiped the tears from her beautiful eyes “Well, Kia was right. Your brother is in grave danger, and now you have another reason to find him” Kiki smiled at him

“You always see the bright side of things don’t you?” Koga gave her a warm smile

“Come on, well go see if we can get some horses in town”

They were behind nearly a day before they left the comfort of the palace walls. Koga now had all his strength back so he padded along the chestnut mare Kiki was riding in his wolf form, Michael and Salina rode at the rear with Dom gracefully walking beside his master. The sun had nearly set by the time Kiki said to stop and set up camp, she pulled the pack of Latté’s back and unrolled her sleeping bag next a fallen log. Kiki turned back to her horse to find a grey dove perched on the saddle. It just stood there and stared at her until she noticed the little rolled scroll attached to its foot “Well, well what have we here” Kiki launched herself at the bird before it had time to figure out what was going on. She pulled the little scroll from its leg and let the poor bird go before it died of shock. “Koga, look at this” She motioned for him to come to her, He pulled the little scroll from her hands and held it above his head while she jumped around him trying to grab it back

“Hold on there Kitty Kat, Let me read it” Koga skimmed his eyes over the note and nearly fell over in shock “Kiki I think you better read this” She pulled the note form him and read it “Oh my god, This can’t be happening” She cried, the note fell from her hand and landed on the cold hard dirt.
