Second lunch came and rose had decided to take the rest of the afternoon off I met up with Jeremy and we decided we would walk home and see her. On our way home Jeremy pointed out the small dark blotches along one of the walls, It wasn’t all over the place it was just in one spot on the ground and half way up the wall, Then as I turned I found a piece of evidence as to whom the blood belonged to. There lying on the ground was a ring with the initials J.M. It only took me and Jeremy two seconds to put two and two together. Sprinting as fast as possible Jeremy and I ran towards rose’s house. We searched high and low but there had not been one sign that Rose had been there, so we raced towards my place “Maybe she’s there” I yelled to Jeremy “Mum got home last night so she will be talking to her” Just as we were about to run up my drive way Rose burst out of the front door and came running towards me, a huge smile on her face “Rose your mum’s in hospital…She’s going to have the baby” With the news of my new sibling on the way I completely forgot about Jessica. We all race towards the hospital only to find we had to sit in the waiting room. It wasn’t that bad, after about 15 minutes my grandparents turned up. I introduced them to Rose and Jeremy then we went to see the doctor about mum. The doc told us that mum was in the middle of birth and not much could be said till it was over. I dropped my head and sighed but Jeremy walked up be hind me and put his hand under my chin and said “You need to keep your chin up… For your mum” He kissed me on the cheek and we sat down again. While sitting in the waiting room it got me thinking again, what was with Rose and did she have anything to do with the ring we thought was Jessica’s. After a while I dozed off on Jeremy’s shoulder until Jeremy was shaking me “Wake up, Wake up the doc says your mum had the baby” After an agonizing 12 hours little Jackson Jones was born, my baby brother. Mum and I knew it was a large gap between me and him but mum wasn’t that old, She had me when she was 16 and we were all ready to put in our bit to help her out even Jeremy offered. After finding out the gender of the baby Grandma asked if it was alright to see her, the doc told us we could go in one by one because mum was exhausted so we let Grandma go in first. One of the nurses asked if I wanted to see the baby, it was in getting its bath so I walked after her down the hall with Jeremy holding my hand and Rose following behind. I walked in to the nursery, there were babies everywhere. I followed the nurse to a tiny baby boy right next to the window where Rose and Jeremy were standing outside. The nurse motioned for them to come in, Jeremy started to walk but Rose stood not moving. Jeremy turned back but Rose shook her and Jeremy turned and walked in the door. By this time the nurse had handed me my brother, Jackson and I was cradling him in my arms. Jeremy walked up behind me and put his arms around my shoulders and touched him “He’s beautiful” He said, He looked at me and smiled “Just like his sister” My cheeks blushed but I ignored it. I turned around in his arms and gently gave him Jackson, at first he didn’t know what to do but he got the hang of it. After a while we passed Jackson back to the nurse to be taken to mum. We were walking up the hall when out of the blue Jeremy said with a smile on his face looking at the ceiling like he was daydreaming “I can’t wait”“For what?” I replied“Till I have one of those” I started to laugh and he grabbed me and whisked me up into his arms “I wasn’t kidding” He said with a smile. I grabbed his neck tight and said“If you drop me you will have to look up to me you know”“Look up!!” he smartly replied“Ok so look down” We laughed all the way back to the waiting room to wait for our turn to see mum. It was a week after mum had the baby and she was settling in back at home. It was also getting close to the holidays for the first term and my birthday. It was our last day of school and then we had a week of lazing around. On our way home Jeremy and I tried to find out all we could about Jessica and the ring but Rose swore to us that she didn’t know anything so we believed her. It was my birthday tomorrow so Jeremy and rose were staying at my place for the night so we could get ready for the party, mum agreed to let both Jeremy and Rose sleep on the floor in my room but Rose said she was happy to sleep in the guest room, when she told this to my mother she eyed me and Jeremy off with a smile. Rose took her bags up to her room while Jeremy followed me up the stairs to my room lugging his bags behind him.“Well here we are” Jeremy looked around the room “Hasn’t changed”“I haven’t had time to change it” Jeremy dropped his bad where he was standing,“So…” I walked towards him smiling“So…”“Now what are we going to do for three hours” I looked at him puzzled“I don’t know, why what’s in three hours” “I’m taking you out for dinner…Just you and me” He grabbed my waist, pulled me closer and looked me in the eyes looking as if to find something.“And my mother is okay with this”“Yep. I’ve had this reservation for three days rose even said she would stay home,” I looked at the ground“What, What’s wrong, your suppose to be happy when I tell you this”“Oh don’t get me wrong I am happy but I promised dad I would stay home tonight and help mum” I could see the sadness in his eyes when I told him this “I could make it up to you though” I moved closer to him and embraced him in a tight but loving hug Smiling he said “Oh Yeah… How”?I kissed him and then again, I touched his chest and my hand quivered, this is what I had always wanted, someone who loved me for me but I had a feeling I my chest that screamed warning signs to me but I ignored them. My hand had reached the bottom of his shirt when we heard the door open.“Oh sorry, did I interrupt something” Rose said looking extremely embarrassed. Jeremy turned to her half laughing “Oh rose you picked the right timing it was just getting steamed up too”We all laughed our way down stairs to the games room. That night Jeremy rung the restaurant and cancelled his reservation and we lit up the BBQ instead. We ate dinner and we sat down and watched the movies rose bought over. It was about midnight by the time rose had decided to give in and go to bed, everyone had tried to stay up to keep an eye on Jeremy and me but all of them seem to give in pretty fast.“Well we’ve manage to get the place to ourselves again” He said to me. I smiled “Yup” I smiled and kissed him again trying for the second time tonight to get two minutes alone with him. He led me to my bed room and kissed me goodnight, I lay on my bed and he laid on the floor. I was slowly drifting to sleep when I felt a hand run up my side and soon I felt Jeremy’s warm body beside. I turned around in his arms and he said to me “I love you”“I love you too” I replied. I had soon fallen asleep feeling totally safe.
