Silver Poison

“What is this magical substance?” they exclaimed.

Children run around catching it in glass jars and letting it fall on their tongues not knowing the substance was deadly. Scholars heard of this shining thing and get people to collect some to study. A few nights later, everyone that had gone outside whine it was falling turned up dead. The scholars finished their research too late to save anyone.

The magical substance was really sliver and came on a strange object many eons ago. Their ancestors had contained it because they where advanced and knew it was toxic. The lightning that stormy night broke the container and the people of the world perished.
