Aleera (Part 12)

Fiction Created on 8-23-07 Views(92) Story Rating G

“Taya... Aleera’s sapphire says the third will die, not in that exact context but that is the easiest way to translate it.” Antonio said in a quiet voice, Taya’s face went blank “hold on a minute you’re telling me that you got me all worried because of some stupid riddle on the back of a gem?” she said sounding rather annoyed.

Antonio rolled his eyes “you don’t get it, in the female side of the family there is a special bloodline.”, “I already know that!” Taya quickly said, Antonio continued ignoring Taya’s interruption “Of coarse Aleera has female cousins but the bloodline only runs down the main root of the family, but if there are none left in the main root then it is in the rest of the family but it is not as strong and it’s extremely chancy weather that would work or not and so every one has always made sure that the main root has continued to grow. All in the main root have always had a female within their fist two children and so to make sure that the prophecy did not come true did not have any more children, but as my mother had twins who were both males she had to have another child and hope what the gem said would not mean that Aleera would have to die.” He said quickly while taking almost no breaths.

Taya sat there wide eyed with her head slightly tilted to the side “huh?” she murmured, Antonio glared at her “you didn’t follow a thing I just said did you?”, “no... no I didn’t” she said still looking completely confused, “well that doesn’t matter anyway, you will understand it later, right now you should get some sleep” Antonio yawned “what about you aren’t you going to sleep?” Asked Taya “alas I cannot, I need to stay awake and stand guard” he sighed Taya nodded her head in agreement “Well goodnight then”.

Aleera was still awake and had heard all of this she understood what it meant even if Taya did not, it meant that Aleera would have to die and there was nothing that could stop it.

A lot was running through Aleera’s mind, it was not that she had a fear of dying but knowing that she would soon die and not knowing why or even how made her panic.

After about half an hour Aleera still lay on the hard ground, thousands of thoughts ran through her head, she began to hear voices talking, not to her but she could still hear them. The voices kept on talking slowly getting louder when suddenly the child with the crimson tears appeared before her and she again found herself in the place with white sand and dark blue skies.

“Who are you?” Aleera asked the girl, “Names are not important, names are simply things that humans have created so that you can claim something as your own. I don’t know why but my spirit is drawn to you, it says that you can help me.” said the girl, “Your spirit? does that mean that you’re dead?” Aleera muttered feeling unsure of what was going on “No I am not dead, I am the guardian of those who have died but can’t find peace.” she said with a soft, quiet voice. “How can you be the guardian of lost souls? You are only a child, and why do you suffer” Questioned Aleera, “I have lived for thousands of years I may have the appearance of a young girl but I am older then the earth itself. As for why I suffer, it is because when the world is not at rest I cannot be either, and the world is not at peace because the spirits are not. When the souls can find their way then the earth will find peace and when the earth finds peace I can finally rest, it is a never ending circle.” The girl said, scarlet tears still ran down her cheek.

“Why are the spirits not at rest?” Aleera asked, the girl began to speak “I do not know why, that is what you need to figure out.”

There was a white flash of light and suddenly Aleera opened her eyes and found herself lying down with the hard ground beneath her. The sun had just started to rise, and the sound of the water trickling down the stream was all that could be heard.

Aleera got up and looked around, Emilly was tied to a tree, Taya was sleeping about 2 meters away from Aleera and Antonio had obviously fallen asleep while trying to stand guard because he was leaning on a tree asleep.

Aleera walked up to him and pushed him over to wake him up. “Aleera!” he shouted groggily, “Yes Antonio?” Aleera said casually “I thought we agreed that one of us would always stay awake.” she continued, Antonio muttered something and then got up off the ground.

He slowly walked towards Taya, “Taya, Taya! It’s about time you wake up.” Antonio said as he knelt down next to her. “I’m awake” she groaned “Somebody with a voice a lot deeper then Aleera’s shouted about a minute ago and just so you know that isn’t exactly the nicest way to wake up.” she said clearly not happy, Antonio had a guilty look on his face “well falling face first into the ground isn’t the nicest way either” he said glaring at Aleera, “well maybe falling asleep when you’re supposed to be looking out for any thieves and such isn’t a good idea.” Said Aleera, Antonio completely ignored Aleera and started talking to Taya.

“So Taya are you going to head towards home?” He asked, “I guess so, there is not much point in me staying here.” Answered Taya “But before I go take this money, it should be enough to get a couple of horses and weapons, as long as you keep everything simple and don’t get state of the art weapons” she said as she dropped 6 gold coins into Antonio’s hand.

Taya spun around and began walking towards Emilly “There is a small shop about 1 days walk from here. Good luck!” She called as she put all her thing on Emilly’s back. She then untied and mounted her horse. “Good-bye Taya!” Antonio shouted after her as she rode of into the distance. Aleera sat there with a puzzled look on her face “Well that happened very suddenly.” She muttered.

“I guess we should get going as well Aleera.” Antonio said as he began to pick up his bags, “You still haven’t found your flask, it would be a good idea to find it and fill it up before we leave.” Replied Aleera. Antonio went slightly red “Err, yes... I knew that” he murmured. Antonio put down all the bags he had picked up and again began to rummage through them. “Well while you do that I am going to the small lake down the stream to wash up, and please don’t come looking for me when you’ve filled the flask, you might get a not quite so pleasant surprise.” Aleera said as she began to walk down stream, “Okay then I will see you soon.” Antonio agreed.
