After walking for over three hours on their two day trip to the palace, Aleera's feet were hurting as she wore no shoes and the road they traveled was rough and bumpy, Antonio and Aleera were now coming up to the stream that ran beside the village.

Aleera dipped her hand into the cool water, she swung her leather backpack onto the ground and rummaged through it until she found the small water flask.

Again she dipped her hand into the stream, but this time it held the flask, she waited until the bubbles stopped rising then pulled it out of the water. "Is there a flask within all the junk you brought?" She asked Antonio, "of coarse there is, I'm not as imbecilic as Devante is! I... just have to remember which bag I put it in..." he murmured, Aleera rolled her eyes as she walked towards a small tree which provided some shade from the harsh rays of the sun.

"We should rest here for a while." She murmured, while rubbing her feet. "We should also get you some shoes." Antonio added, "I'll be fine just don't disturb me." Aleera said.

Aleera put her back against the tree and stretched her legs out to try and get comfortable, Antonio still searched furiously through his many bags for a flask.

After a short time the two heard what sounded like a horse in the distance, "That sounds like Emilly..." Aleera muttered. Emilly was Taya's horse that had gone with Taya on her journey.

Taya had not yet returned from her trip. Before long it became clear that it was Taya, as she got close she also recognized her friends and dismounted, Her long strawberry-blonde waved in the gentle wind.

She was wearing a pink dress with what looked like a corset around her stomach, though it was different to what the people normally wore in their hometown of Aliar, it looked good.

"Antonio, Aleera? what are you two doing out here, these roads are dangerous and you don't even have a weapon!" she said as she picked up her long bow and short sword to show them. "It would help if we had money to buy weapons with." Aleera murmured "unlike you we never had any rich parents." she continued, Taya glared at her, "well at least your parents didn't die when you were five! you may not have a mother now but at least you have a father!" she shouted, "whatever just leave me alone." Aleera said obviously upset that Taya had mentioned her mother, she slowly began walking back towards the tree. "Oh no you don't, you two normally get along fine it's just that you're both tired, now go sit down together and forget about what just happened" he said as he pulled Aleera back to his side.

Though still annoyed with each other they all went to sit down beside the tree. "I shall go get some things to make a fire while it is still light. You two stay here and try to get along." Antonio said as if he were boss, he headed off to find the items he needed.

For a short time things stayed silent between the two then at last Taya began to speak, "so... how is your father?" she asked, though Aleera did not feel like speaking she replied anyway not wanting to make enemies with the person that had helped their family so much over the past few years, not only with her wealth but also with her optimistic attitude.

"He is still alive but his health is diminishing quickly." Aleera murmured, "I see... and how are Devante and Cleo?" Taya continued, Aleera sighed just thinking about how Cleo was acting "Devante is fine, I think he is trying to keep strong for me... but I don't need his help, and well Cleo,  she doesn't even seem to notice that her grandmother has died and she most definitely does not notice that there is a deadly plague sweeping the land." she said obviously not impressed. "Hmm, it sounds like she hasn't changed a bit in the last 6 months." Stated Taya, "but that's the thing, I think she has changed, she's become even more idiotic." Taya giggled at Aleera's remark.

After talking for a while they began to realize that it was getting dark and Antonio was still not yet back, these lands became dangerous at night but thieves and murderers were not the only worry about, strange creatures would also come out.

"We have to find Antonio" Taya squealed "I don't think Devante would be very happy with me if I let his twin die!" she continued, "I don't think Devante would be very happy with you if saved his twin." Aleera muttered. Just at this point they heard Antonio in the distance "I think that Taya has been thinking about Devante all this time." he said as he came closer, "That's not true!... I was thinking about Cleo as well." Taya's face quickly became red as she covered her hand over her mouth, "oops that didn't come out write, I mean I was listening to you Aleera and I was worrying about Antonio and um, um... I... I didn't mean that I was only thinking about Devante and Cleo..." Taya began to ramble on.

"Well I'll leave you two to catch up. I'm going to sleep, wake me up later if needed but make sure there is always someone awake." Aleera yawned as she lay down on the hard ground. "Very well then, good night. I will get the fire going now." Antonio said, "night night Aleera" Taya said still very embarrassed.

Aleera awoke to the sound of two familiar voices arguing, she was about to rise and find out what it was about when she heard what they were saying. "Listen to me Taya, you can't come with us!", "And why not? It's just to the palace and back!" Antonio seemed frustrated "Taya, It's not just to the palace, we will probably never come back." Taya's naturally pale face became deathly white, "why not?" she simply asked, "You do not know what Aleera's amulet says do you Taya?"
