    At the police station they were questioned not once, not twice...it felt like it was a million times. At some point, a patrol car was sent after everyone who had been at the camping trip. Everyone was questioned, everybody gave their stories. At 8am their parents were called to pick them up. Jake's mom picked up Johnny too. Inside the car she was screaming at everyone.

-"How could you take your little sister to the cliffs?! You know how scared I was about that thing running wild! I ask you to take care of her and you take her towards the danger? Jake, I'm very disappointed in you! And you too, Johnny! Stephanie is only ten years old! And Stephanie, why didn't you called me when you found out about your brother's plan? I'm so disappointed in the three of you! What would you have done if it had been any of you instead of that girl?! UH? ANSWER ME! Would you have called me then?"

    When they reached Johnny's house, he stepped outside the car as quickly as he could. Jake's mother, who was driving told Jake and Stephanie to step out too.  She ordered them to stand net to each other and stood in front of them saying:

-"I've been yelling all this time, but it's only because I'm glad nothing happened to any of you. Jake and Stephanie, you two are my life; and ever since your dad left...well, let's just say that I haven't been around much. But that doesn't mean I don't care about you. It's just that I'm working more, so I can provide you with a better life...And Johnny, I know that I'm not your mother, I'm not even a distant cousin. But you grew up with my boy...you feel like one of my own..." - Jake's mom started crying. - "If anything had happened to any of you...I'd loose the only thing that keeps my alive, my kids..."

    The three of them hugged her.

-"Mrs.Johnson, you are more my mother that the one that actually gave birth to me, she wasn't even worried enough to pick me up at the station...Feel free to yell at me anytime..."- said Johnny still hugging Jake's mother.

    Mrs. Johnson left Johnny at his house and drove to her own, the journey was spent in silence. When she got there, she started looking at every window. She was already late for work, so she called in sick. After the call, she called Jake to the living room.

-"Jake, I need a favor. I need you to go to the hardware store and buy some wood panels. I want these windows covered tonight. Here are the measurements and some money. I'll stay here with the dwarf." - she said handing him a piece of paper and some twenties.

    When Jake returned from the hardware store, Johnny was at his house.

 -"Dude, I was soooo bored! Lucky your mom called me and ask me to come. She said you need help with something. What is it?"

    Jake smiled and said: "Oh, yeah. My mom's the best!"

    Jake and Johnny spent the entire afternoon boarding up the house. Stephanie was the "helping maid", as she called herself, after the 5th time they called her to get them some water. When they had finished the entire house, the sun was beginning to set.

-"Listen, dude. Would you mind if I asked your mom if I could stay here. It's kinda late and..." - said Johnny.

-"Go. I'm sure she'll say yes." 

   Johnny went into the kitchen, there the smell of fried chicken and mashed potatoes made him realized he hadn't eaten in the whole day.

-"Oh, Johnny! Food's almost ready. Go wash up. And tell Jake to prepare his room. I don't want you leaving this house tonight."

-"Thanks Mrs. J." - said Johnny smiling.

    Dinner was pretty much silent. Nobody said anything until the phone rang. Jake thought it was funny. Nobody called their house, especially on weekends.

-"Hello." - he said when he picked it up. 

-"Jake? It' me." - said Diana at the other end. She was sobbing. -"Why didn't you call me. I just saw what happened last night in the news..." 

-"I'm sorry. It's been a crazy day. Would you give me a couple of minutes while I finish eating? I'll call you back as soon as i finish."

-"Sure thing, babe." - she said and hung up.

    Jake finished eating and went upstairs. He took his cell phone and dialed Diana's number.

-"Oh, babe. I'm sorry. Can I call you later? Christie just got here. She's crying. I think Will broke up with her." - said quickly Diana when she answered.

-"Sure. Take care baby."  - he said and hung up.

    The clock marked 8:17.  Everybody else was downstairs cleaning up the kitchen. Jake stayed in his room until he was certain that the sounds in the kitchen were over. The noise was now in the living room.  Jake went down the stairs and saw that Stephanie, Johnny and his mom had turned the TV on.

-"Hey, we're gonna watch a movie. Wanna join us?" -asked Stephanie.

-"Sure, why not?" - he said as he sat next to his mom.

    When the movie was ending, Jake's cell phone began ringing. It was Diana's ringtone. 

-"Hello?"

-"Hey, Jake. Sorry I hung up on you earlier."

-"Don't worry." - he said getting up from the couch. -"So, what happened to Christie?"

-"Oh! She broke up with Will. Turns out he had been cheating on her with Andy's twin. She found out today at the station. I always said he was a bit of scum. Anyways, she already left to her house. Are you okay?"

-"Kinda. I guess, I could be worse after what I saw. I've just kept myself busy during the day to..."

-"Yeah, I understand. Want me to come over tomorrow?"

-"Yeah, that be perfect."

-"Okay then. See ya in the morning?"

-"Sure baby." - he said and hung up.

    When he was coming down the stairs to the living room, to see the end of the movie, he heard the distinct song that announced a special news report.

-"Good evening, I'm Tony Smith and this has just come in. A group of teenagers hanging outside the movie theater got the scare of their lives. According to them something crept from behind them, a beast of magnificent size, and attacked them. One of them, the girl that was attacked swore that the beast looked like a dog. Let's see what Trish has for us. Trish?"

    Another newscaster came up. She was standing outside the movie theater with a red haired girl.

-"Thank you Tony. Im' standing here with Allison. Allison, would you share with our viewers what happened to you?"

-"Well, we were standing there." - the girl pointed to a corner.- "You know, just hanging out, smoking some cigarettes,  when everyone started screaming. I thought they were joking around and trying to scare me. We were talking 'bout that girl that was killed last night. Suddenly, I felt something sharp pulling me by the shoulders. When I looked back, this big wolf was there standing on its two back legs. It must have been like 6 foot tall. The wolf looked at me, and just let go."

-"It let go?"- asked Trish.

-"Yeah, but its claws left this on my shoulder." - said the redhead showing up a big gauze. She lifted up the gauze and showed three big holes on her left shoulder. Blood quickly came out from the wounds. The girl added with proud on her voice. -"The other one looks the same." 

 -"Oh God! That's disgusting!" - said Stephanie when she saw the wounds.

-"Wow. I bet that hurt. Back to you Tony." - said Trish on the TV.

-"Thank you Trish, for that live cover. Well, that's it for the moment. We'll keep you informed. My name is Tony Smith, and you just saw a special report." -said Tony, and some candy commercial came up.

-"Do you think...?" - said Johnny, but Jake interrupted him.

-"I don't wanna..."

-"Okay then." - said Johnny.

-"Maybe it's time we went to bed." - said Mrs. Johnson.

    Everybody went upstairs, took a bath and fell into the bed. Jake's mind raced with the images of Rachel's body. He found it impossible to sleep at all, specially with Johnny snoring at his side.

     Morning came. At 6am when the sun started rising, Jake found himself turning the TV on. The 6 o'clock news came out. The night had passed with no events of killing or eating. The biggest news was something about a chili eating contest in the southern area of the state. The werewolf had not eaten the night before.
