    Night fell. The full moon rose amongst the first stars. The cliffs shone with the moonlight, daring the ocean that laid on its feet. On top of the cliff sat Diana with her boyfriend Jake. The Cliffs of Ithiel were the hottest make out place in the whole town.

-"Baby, did you see the news today?" - asked Jake.

-"News? No, why?"

-"There was a weird murder last night...."

-"Oh, you mean the Turner girl?" -asked Diana.

-"Yeah, creepy stuff."

-"Totally, when Christie called me to tell me I was in shock. Christie said that the police found bite marks all over her body, and half of it was eaten."

-"Yeah, it's horrible."

    Silence crept between them after that. A tension had grown between them, almost as if they felt watched.

-"Do you want to leave?" - asked Diana.

-"Why? Are you scared?" - he teased.

-"Well, a bit."

-"Don't worry...I'll protect you..." - said Jake as he hugged her tightly.

    Diana kissed him and they forgot about everything else. They were lying on the floor, Jake on top of Diana kissing her neck. His hands caressed her breasts and waist, hoping that tonight she might let him go farther. Diana giggled in approval. Jake's hands did not wait a second longer, he unbuttoned her jeans and expected the usual: "Jake, stop..." but it didn't come.

    Suddenly a scream filled the night. Jake and Diana looked up and quickly sat. Diana buttoning her jeans back.

-"What was that?" - she asked.

-"I don't know..."

    A second scream reached them. This one closer.

-"That's it! We are leaving!!" - said Diana as she stood and walked to the car. She opened the door and got inside.

    Jake followed her and sat in the driver's sit. He turned the car on. Soft music came from the radio. Jake, thinking that he shouldn't miss the chance kissed Diana. He started to caress her one more time hoping that she would give him the chance that the scream had made his loose.

-"Let's just leave, please. I'm really nervous."  -said Diana pulling Jake's hand away.

    Jake sighed and put the car in drive. As he drove off he could've sworn he saw a huge dog standing in it's hind legs. He left Diana at her house and went to his best friend house. Johnny sat on the porch almost as if he was waiting for Jake. Jake parked the car in front of Johnny's driveway. Johnny laughed:

-"She said no again?! Man, your girlfriend is a tough one!"

-"She didn't say no."

-"Then what's with the long face?"

-"Something interrupted us, she got scared and we had to leave..."

-"Something....oh, brother! You really have bad luck! What was it? A bunny crept from the bushes?"

    Jake pushed Johnny and said: "No. It was a scream dumb ass!"

-"A scream?? Dude, you can tell me the truth! She said no again didn't she?!" - said Johnny laughing...

-"Whatever, let's just go watch some TV." - Said Jake as he pushed his friend and entered into the living room. He turned on the TV and the local news report came. 

-"Dude, you came to my house to watch the news?"

-"Nah, man. I just turned it on to see what was on." - Said Jake pushing the channel button.

-"Wait, man. Go back!"

-"...the girl was found between the bushes. Apparently, something scared the murderer and left her there, but it was already to late. The wound on her neck was too deep. Police reports say that if the murderer hadn't run off, her body would have probably ended up like Lisa Turner's. More of this on the 11 o'clock news. I'm Tony Smith with a just arrived story. Good night!"

-"Dude, that was right next to the cliffs. Maybe that was the scream you heard!"

    Jake's cell phone started ringing. He saw the caller ID, it was Diana.

-"Hey babe."

-"Did you see the special report of the news?" - she asked in a squeaky voice.

-"Yeah. You okay?"

-"Okay?! Jake, I think we were the thing that scared off the murderer! I'm scared to bone! What would have happened if we had stayed there? Maybe we would have been next! Oh, my God! What if the murderer saw us leave and followed us?!"

-"Baby, don't worry. Everything will be fine. I'm sure he didn't see us..." - A loud beep sounded on Jake's phone, that meant that there was someone on the other line. - "Baby, try to calm down, maybe go to sleep. I've got a another call waiting. I'll see you in the morning"

    Without waiting for her to say goodbye he hung up and answered his other line.

-"Hello?" - a long pause followed - "Jesus, mom I'm okay! I'm at Johnny's! I left the Cliffs like an hour ago... Yeah, I saw the news....No, mom. I didn't see anything....Mom, no! I swear I'm okay....Yeah, I'll be home in an hour...Yes, mom, I'm okay....You can stop worrying now...I swear, okay? Bye!" 

-"Dude, maybe you should go to the police."

-"What for? I didn't see anything, it would be stupid....Let's just watch a movie or something..."

-"Whatever, man."

    After a little while, Jake's phone rang again, his ringtone was a circus song.

-"What is it dwarf?" - he said without even looking at the called ID.

-"Mom's going ballistic. She wants you to come home." - said a voice on the other side of the phone.

-"Aw, common Steph! I'm watching a movie at Johnny's." 

-"Whatever, just letting you know...." - and she hung up.

-"What is it, dude?" -asked Johnny.

-"Stephanie called me. Apparently, mom's going ballistic and wants me home."

-"So your sister calls, and you leave...I'm hurt!" - said Johnny laughing.

-"Yeah, so? I'll see you tomorrow at school!" - said Jake laughing too and left. 

    The next day at school, everybody was talking about the newest murder when Jake arrived. Diana met him almost at the gate.

-"You hung up on me last night!"

-"Sorry, babe! Mom was going crazy on the other line...I was at Johnny's."

-"Oh, it's just that Claire was such a good friend, I thought it would probably affect you too."

-"Claire? What about her?"

-"Jake, you told me you had seen the news!"

-"I did...well, the last part anyways! I didn't know that it had been Claire!"

-"Dude, did you hear?" - asked Johnny from behind. -"It was Claire Thompson!"

-"Yeah, Diana just told me..."

-"Dude, it's sick! Who would do that to Claire?"

    The bell rang and silence issued in the school. Everybody walked to their classrooms whispering about what had happened to Claire.
