-“Di, let me drive.” – said Jake taking the car keys from the trembling hands of his girlfriend.

            The road was completely empty. There were no cars, and no people around. The bars that would normally be open were closed and boarded. Yes, the town had changed so much in the past few months. The hospital looked the same, empty. There were only a few cars in the parking lot, all of them had the distinct Hospital logo. Only employees were there, well, employees and Diana’s parents. When Jake and Diana entered the emergency room they saw Diana’s mother crying in a chair. Diana ran to her mother.

-“Mom, what happened? Is dad okay?”

Diana’s mom looked up from her hands to look at her daughter. She said no and buried her face on her hands once again crying. Diana kept asking her mother what had happened, but her mom wouldn’t answer. Diana rang a little bell and a nurse pop out her head through a little window.

-“How may I help you?” –asked the nurse.

-“Something happened to my dad. My mom is in bad shape and she can’t tell me what happened…” – said Diana crying, while Jake put his hand around her waist in comfort –“Is he okay?”

-“Is your name Turner?” –asked the nurse.

-“Yeah.”

-“And he is?” – asked the nurse pointing at Jake.

-“I’m Jake Johnson, her boyfriend.” – said Jake quickly.

-“Why don’t you both sit? I’ll be right there” – asked the nurse pointing to the waiting room. They sat, looking at Diana’s mom. The nurse was quickly with them.

-“Darling. I’m afraid that the injuries your father suffered were too deep…”-began saying the nurse, but was interrupted by Diana.

-“Injuries? What happened to him? Did he fell? What?”

-“Sweetie, your father was attacked by the… I don’t even know how to call it!” – said the nurse in frustration- “ I guess I can say monster. Your parents were attacked at your house by two of those things. According to what your mother told us, your father put himself as bait so your mother could escape. The wounds were too deep. When the paramedics finally reached your home, they pronounced your father…dead on scene.”

Diana threw herself crying in the arms of Jake. Jake held her, while she cried. Until she left Jake’s arms and threw herself at her mom. Both mother and daughter mourned together the death of the man they both loved.

Jake picked up his cell phone and marked his speed dial number 4: Johnny.

-“Hey, dude. How’s the father in law?” –asked Johnny when he answered.

-“Not good. Listen, I need a huge favor. Could you baby sit Stephanie? I don’t know for how long. Di and her mom are in pretty bad shape. I mean, the guy hated my guts, but he was a good man. Johnny, he was killed by two of  those werewolves things.” –said Jake slowly.

Silence fell on the other side of the line, until Johnny finally said:

-“There’s two of them?”

-“Apparently. Listen, don’t tell Steph, she’ll freak out.” – said Jake.

-“Too late, dude. She’s listening and is already freaked out.” – said Johnny.

-“Damn! I’ll think about it. I’ll call you later, ok?”

-“Sure thing. Be careful dude!”

            Morning came and with it came more bad news. As soon as Johnny turned on the TV he regretted it. A picture of Will in his football uniform showed in the morning news, as well as Mr. Turner’s picture.

-“Both victims were found dead in their houses. Apparently, killed by the werewolf. The wife of the first victim says she saw two of the monsters. That’s all we have for now. We’ll keep you informed. Back to you, Sam.” – said a female reporter.

            Johnny picked up his phone and dialed Jake.

-“Bad news, dude…”
