Jem and i reached the side door in seconds and i looked at sensi, still holding the door open. One glance at his eyes adn understanding dawned. He was goign to stay behind.
"no sensi" i whispered.
"it will give you time bry-san. and if i die, it will not be in vain. just be sure you and jem-san follow through. your efforts will demolish drug chains across wisconsin, and you will give freedom to all those like us."
my heart was torn. "i will not have your blood on my hands sensi, you are like a father to me and if you die because we brought them here, i.. i couldn't live with myself." I looked to the rice paper doors and a shadow stepped into veiw. It was a woman about 5'4 and slim. If sensi died, i would avenge him. Sensi quickly waved jem and i out the exit.
We ran down the alley way to our apartment. Jem slammed the door on the way in and told me to grab only the essentials. I dont remember much, or even what i grabbed, my mind was on sensi. It was after a half and hour on the highway that i realized my perfect life i was so intent on living was shattered. Sensi was right, silar would never stop, because he never leaves loose ends.
"Jem" i chocked out hoarsley. He didnt take his eyes off the road but i knew he was listening.
"if im number 1 and your number two, then you were added right after me right?"
"yeah i guess so, why do you ask?"
"how did you meet silar?" i looked over at his profile and he was sweating. his hands shook and i felt like my suspicions were confirmed.
"i... i had known him for a long time before i had become a part of his 'company" I looked closley at him, my eyes narrowed in concentration. Then i thougth back to silar. I had known silar for a long time also, from years of partnership and what i thought was friendship.
"exactly how long have you known him?" i heard jem swallow. He didnt speak and i felt the tension vibrate from his body. I knew he wasnt goign to answer me so i feigned a smile and loosend my grip on the arm of my chair.
"yeah its hard for me to talk about my past too. its okay, i understand the misery of it all, thats why people like you and me cant just talk about it." i gave him my fake excuse, something he could just flounder into because he was so obviously drowning.
"yeah, it was a tough time for me too. thanks for understanding." and we drove further untill the sun rose from the horizon.
