Into the Forest (...into the water...)
|
Leaning over a rock that reached above the water, she basked in the sunshine and watched the bracelet that clung to her wrist. It was an antique silver design that caught the light and threw it in all directions in a beautiful way even through the droplets of water that beaded upon it. She stared at it for the longest time. It reminded her of how on television they use a ray of light to show the path to Heaven. These little rays from her bracelet went many directions, each looking like a little tiny path to Heaven perhaps. The centaur had ceased to come to the water anymore. I imagine there are better places to be than stuck by the side of the water. It appeared the forest had gained life somehow. It began to untwist those demented trunks and the branches began to have tiny buds of green upon them. Enayi lay her head against the rock, watching the world around her: the glistening bracelet, the trees, the grass, the water ripple occassionally for various reasons, maybe a fish sneak a peak at the surface or a breeze blow by... She let her fluke gently sway back and forth in a lazy manner. She was out of the water so long her hair had dried completely. She ran her fingers through the dry locks as many thoughts drifted through her mind. She saw that her clothes still lay upon the rock with her shoes in the distance. The cool water would gently move up and down from the motions of her swaying fluke and she'd feel the water tickle her back, sides, and stomach as it reached up to parts of her dried skin. If you had to choose between the enclosed but enchanting forest or the green open meadow, what would you choose? Enayi unfolded her arms and allowed her body to slip into the cool water, savoring the tickling sensation as it seemed to crawl upon her dry skin. Her arms lifted to the Heavens she just let her body sink. Her hair lifted and spun in circles as her body sank and midway began to encircle around her shoulders and neck. The free fall was slow and she could feel the water making way for her body. She resisted the urge the to control her swim for a moment, letting herself be lost. When her fluke touched the bottom covered in loose sand and rocks she gave her fluke a kick and snaked her way through the water. When the water skimmed past her it reminded her of a bird flying out of one's hands to the open air. How much different is flying than slipping through the water like this? As Enayi swam past the purple flower in the water she let her fingers glaze across it. They felt like velvet. The petals rippled as she swam past. She made a circle and came back to it. The flower was rather large, like the size of a large old time record. She pet the petals again and as she swam away her body twisted in a corkscrew fashion toward the surface.
