Damned
Current mood: depressed

From beneath the water she watched human hands that clasped eachother to make a cup and scoop the water for a drink....or maybe to wash a human face? Hmm... now she was curious so she came to the surface slowly as not to make ripples and disturb the being.  The hands brought the water to his lips as he gulped it down.  These hands were human, as was the arms...stomach...chest...and face...but the lower body was that of a horse.  Every shape of him was sculpted divinely.  She folded her arms on a rock and lay her head on it as she watched him.  After he drank he washed his face and threw the water upon his arms and rubbed them up and down.  His horse legs were folded so that he could kneel to the water but now he began to straighten them up and pat the hooves to the ground to shake off debris.  She thought he was about to leave and that she hadn't been detected but his voiced offered words that she was not as "sneaky" as she has thought.  "Are you going to come over here or just watch from there?" Her face flushed because she didn't realize she'd been caught.  But she got over the flush and swam to him for a closer inspection.  She'd not seen a centaur before, only heard of one.  His tail gave a swish motion that made him look confident and strong.  When Enayi pulled herself out of the water, her fishtail and all, he offered her a hand that the accepted. Wow, even his hands were strong. Nice. Her hair modestly hid her breasts, although she didn't even realize it because she had been without cloth for over a week now.  Her clothes still laying upon the rock, folded with her shoes on top.  She beckoned him to sit again so that she did not have to look straight up and ache her neck.  She could not stand because of her tail.  He gave a bit of a sigh and rolled his shoulders and his horse legs bent once again but this time after they were knelt he let them slide out to the side for comfort and a jesture that he would visit for a moment before running off.  "Well?" his gruff voice asked.  She didn't know what to say, she just repeated his "well?" as she looked upon him without caring if it was rude or not.  Her tail started to dry out fast though.  She needed the water and kept looking to it.  He realized the problem and scooped up some water and let it slip through his cupped hands onto her tail.  It felt so very good and he kept doing it as the sat there together.  Enayi liked when he'd smile, when the creases on the side of his mouth would deepen.  She liked how his eyes were no particular color.  Were they green? Were they blue? Were they neither? And she liked his voice so very much.  She would try anything to get him to talk so that she could hear it, but she was not so good with conversation.  Everytime she started talking she wished her story was over so that she could be silent and listen to  his talking.  This first visit he stayed for awhile, talked, smiled, and saturated her body with the water.  When he had to go she slid reluctantly back into the water.  The swim was not as pleasurable as before.  But it still was better than walking aimlessly on the dry land with nowhere to go.  She passed the purple and yellow flower that motioned with the currents and she watched a school of fish swim one way and then suddenly turn and move another in unison every few minutes as if it were a practiced ballet.  She kept thinking about the centaur.  Wondering at what he was doing at the moment and if she made him bored.  Enjoying the memory of him trickling water on her thirsting scales.  She couldn't get  him out of her mind, and so she swam to the surface to a log that floated in the water and lay her head on her arms for a pillow.  She watched the light in the water glowing so very bright and looking warm.  She watched it  until she faded into sleep.  When morning came she was not happy with it.  Yes the trees and meadows looked beautiful, and the morning air beautiful and crisp, but now she had that damned feeling of wishing for company.  And not just any company.   She sank back into the water.  She went exploring and found a rock wall and decided to swim down against it.  She went down deep and the rock began to be decorated with waterplants and various water"flowers".  Deep into the water, the rock bore an opening.  It was not dark inside as you may think.  There were crystals that reflected the light from the water's center light.  The center light owned this water.  Inside were some merpeople.  Enayi felt a little like an intruder but they were friendly to her and she did not run off.  One of merpeople showed her that these "flowers" were edible and thier opinions of which was the most delicious.  Too much of the flowers would make you disoriented though.  Hmm disoriented is not too bad thought Enayi and she enjoyed the flowers--trying various kinds to see which she liked.  These flowers make the light more inviting and warm.  The next day as Enayi wakes from her log adrift the water top, she sees the centaur again.  His hair is wet, he must have just finished washing it.  Beads of water on his shoulders and chest reflected the sunlight in a star-blinding light now and then.  Enayi waved to him, he cupped his hand over his brow to block the sunlight and see what the movement was.  He waved back.  She slid off of the log and swam to where he was.  He reached down his strong arm and gave her his hand to pull her up to dry land.  He said he missed her, but she couldn't tell if it was just polite talk because he voice did not portray it.  She was excited to see him although from the talk before she realized how different their worlds were and how little they had in common.  He knelt down next to her but did not trinkle the water as before.  He moved her near the waters edge so that she could do it herself.  Aww, it was definately not near as wonderful, but at least he was there to say hello.  She told him about the flowers on the rock and he said that he knew of them, that they grew on the land as well.  He was not as warm to her as he was before.  But yet she still did not want him to leave.  His stay was short.  He said he had things to do.  She wished she could go with him and do the "things to do" with him...but even if she could she was not invited so she disheartenly slipped into the water and swam off before she could see him trot away.  She went back to the hole in the rock, nobody was there, she curled up and tried to sleep.  She wished one of those flowers would give her the sleep she wanted.  She saw the centaur some more times, at his convience.  Each time she was happy at first but then leaving her more empty inside when he was gone.  One time he had a companion at the waterhole.  She swam up to say hello but immediately wished she hadn't.  They did not say anything rude to her, but she realized right away that she was annoying them and intruding upon their visiting.  She awkwardly stayed for a moment, not knowing what to say to get away politely, eventually she just blurted it out "bye" and went on her way.  The centaurs did not say anything to eachother about it but both were relieved she finally went away.  She tells herself she won't bother him anymore, but still she can't help it and will pop up when he comes and visit. " Damned as a human, damned as a mermaid, where can I go from here?" she wonders.
