  After that close incident with Mr. Charmonts son I stayed in my room. Although I hated Hilda's gut, I couldn't risk angering her.

   The next morning I awoke to the sun's shining rays beaming down on me and heating my skin. I got up, stretched, and then went over to my window and closed it.

   When I went downstairs I was surprised to see the house was empty. No one was here but me and I couldn''t help but wonder where they'd went. Perhaps my prayers had been answered and they'd disappeared from the face of the earth?

   I walked into the kitchen and grabbed me a water bottle and a protein bar. Just as I was about to head back upstairs the door bell rang.

  I sighed aloud and then went to open the door.

 It was Mr. Charmonts son, dressed in a casual but dressy shirt and tailored black pants. I wondered vaguely just how rich he was.

  'Hi', I greeted him. 'Um...Hilda isn't here right now. Neither is her daughters''.

  'Even better because I actually came to see you'[, he said in a smooth voice.

  A rush of excitement went through me. Why did he want to see me? I wondered.

   'Oh, what for?', I asked him with curious eyes.

   He smiled and took a step forward. 'If you let me in I'll tell you'.

I relunctantly opened the door fully and stepped aside to let him in.

   'Would you like anything to drink?',I asked him. He declined by giving his head a shake.

  'So... what did you want to see me for?'', I asked him.

His eyes suddenly met mine and he stared at me intensely. He carefully observed me and then looked me back in the eyes. He suddenly nodded to himself.

  'I came here today because I want you to marry me'.
