“'A purty lady,” the man slurred.

I didn’t say anything as I slowly inched away from him.

“Don’t back ‘way. Comclossir, huneey. I’m jus’ a lil lonely. I nee’a friend,” he said walking towards me, a few inches at a time, faster than what I was moving though, but only because I really couldn’t move anymore. I had bumped into the trashcan as I was walking backwards. Great. “Com’n, derliiing,” he said as he threw his cigarette on the ground, then gently sliding his right hand onto my side.

I shivered full of fear. I wasn’t sure what to do. I couldn’t exactly run. I didn’t have too many options; I was trapped between a trashcan and a drunk. He was only human though, I could tell that much. I thought about just shoving him out of my way and making a run for it, but I was too afraid that it might not work. He was slowly sliding his hand up my side then took it off and put it on my cheek.

“Sush a beautiful girl you ‘re. I can’t bulieve inyone would’lleave youwout ‘ere all ‘lone. It isn’ ssafe ya know,” he cackled lightly.

A very perturbed expression appeared on my face in the blink of an eye. He must have noticed.

“But don’t werry, my suweet angel. I ’ill pretict ya.”

Ha! I wanted to laugh. He was the only thing remotely threatening me at this moment. And he was talking about protecting me? From what, himself? He moved his hand from my cheek to my hair as he delicately started caressing it. I felt so disgusted. I couldn’t take him touching me any longer. Whatever outcome I would get from the actions I was about to commit, I really didn’t care anymore. I just had to get away from this vile drunk.

I nudged him hard where the sun don’t shine and ran as quickly as I could back the way I came from, though I honestly had no idea as to where I was headed.

“ARGH!” I heard him scream as I was running.

It startled me, causing me to trip and fall onto my knees; I caught myself with my hands, so I didn’t fall flat on my face. I heard the breaking of glass. I quickly turned my head around only to have his now broken bottle forced roughly up against my neck. I shrieked in terror.

“What the helluz that fer!” He yelled angrily. “I assk fera friend n whaddo I get?” he asked still slurring his words.

“Get your filthy hands off her!” an unknown voice demanded, emerging from behind the drunk.
