Midways' Many Ghosts
|
'It was a cold rainy day in September. Theola ran into the old Home Economics building. She opened the creaky door as she flicked on the lights. The floor was stained with various cooking ingredients. There were a few cobwebs but the building looked relatively clean. The building had not been used for several years on account of Midway not having a HomeEc teacher. It was rumored that someone or something had been living there for several decades. Several people have reported seeing and hearing unnatural things. Some won’t go back into the building they were so scared. That was the reason no one would work there. Theola had heard the rumor but she had enough common sense to put it off as just a story. Unlike her classmates; Bryan, Jonathan, and Author. They were afraid to go anywhere near the building. "It's really coming down out there. I hope my sister comes soon.” said Theola to herself. As she looked out the window a crash came from one of the cabinets. She spun around but saw nothing. She just though it must have been a mouse. She decided to see what there was in the cabinets. The back wall was covered with cabinets and drawers. She opened the cabinet closest to her expecting to see empty shelves. Instead she was surprised to see cups and saucers. She kept looking in cabinets finding all the stuff you'd expect to find in a fully working kitchen. Not in an abandoned Home Economics room. She was looking in an old stove wondering if it still worked when a loud bang came from the bathroom. She picked up a butcher knife from a drying rack nearby. She took her shoes off and crept towards the bathroom. Hoping, praying it was just a rat. The banging persisted. It sounded like someone was kicking the toilet paper holder. She reached towards the doorknob when the banging stopped and another sound started. It sounded like someone was scratching the door. Theola grabbed the doorknob and thrust door open. Inside a girl was seated on the floor with her back to Theola and she kept scratching the door. The girl was wearing a dark hooded sweatshirt with the hood over her head. The girl looked young, ten eleven maybe. "Who are you?” Theola asked. As the girl turned around Theola noticed that she had no face, just a cloudy dark area where the face should have been, and her hands were badly scared. No one ever saw Theola again.' Thomas finished his ghost story. He was telling his friends one of the stories about Midway's past as they sat in a circle outside the school's doors. "Well what happened to her?” one of the girls asked. "That's another story.” Thomas said as they stood to go into the school on a "ghost" hunt.

I agree with Loki. Add more details...but I like it. Ghost stories are always fun. :) |

I like it. Get new paragraphs in there. Have your character walk there and describe it. Describe how she feels. Imagine it's you and say exactly what you see, hear, feel, smell and do. Use imaginary and sensory details to help the story. |
