“Mom I drew something.” Peyton said handing a piece of paper to Alexis.
She was crying still because Brooke still hadn’t been found.
The drawing read ‘Please Come Home’ and it had a picture of everyone crying for Brooke. Alexis started to cry harder as she pulled Peyton to her and hugged him tightly not wanting to lose him either.
“Mom she’s coming home. I know it.”
“I know she is coming home. I hope.”
“Peyton you should go to your room.” Ryan said coming into the room. “Alexis you’re going to have to do something other than just sit here and cry.”
“Why can’t I cry my daughter is gone?”
“Yes but you have a son who has lost a sister and right now it seems like a mom.”
“I still talk to him.”
“He has to come here to talk to you and most of the time you don’t listen. And you make Hailey feel bad about this. There wasn’t much she could do she didn’t hear him come in.”
“I have to blame someone.”
“Blame Nathan.”
“Don’t say his name.”
“Well you need to wrap your mind around this sometime soon.”
“Do you not care about our daughter?”
“I do but I have to hope for the best and keep going on with my life because I’m not going to lose Peyton.”
“Just leave me alone.”
“My pleasure.” Ryan left the room just as the doorbell rang. He opened the door and was overwhelmed with so many tears. He saw his daughter standing in front of him with a police officer. “Brooke I’m so glad you’re back.”
“We found Nathan about 10 miles out of town and he’s being locked up for life.”
“Thank you so much.” Ryan said to the police officer and closing the door. “Sweetie go up stairs and say hi to your mom.”
She ran up the stairs and jumped on the bed, “mommy I’m home.”
Alexis turned around and grabbed her daughter and didn’t let go. “I can’t believe your back.”
“That mean man didn’t feed me.”
“Well let’s get you some food.”
They walked out of the room and Peyton ran to Brooke and picked her.
Their family was whole again and that’s all they needed.
That night they all slept in the same bed.
