It was August and Alexis was 8 months pregnant. She hated being pregnant in the summer. She was uncomfortable enough without sweating lakes and rivers out of parts of her body she never thought could sweat. She was sent to the hospital once because she was dehydrated so she was kept under watchful eye. If someone looked at her and she wasn’t drinking water they would go ballistic. Alexis’s mother was the worse. Alexis knew her mother only want what was best but Alexis felt like if she drank too much water she was going to drown herself.
Today was the day of the baby shower. It was being held at the park because it was a nice day outside and people could bring their boats so they could cool off. They invited both men and women to the party. Most everyone was from school with some family relatives. The girls were all underneath a nice gazebo while the guys played sports on the grass or with all the water toys (boats, sea doos) they brought.
After Alexis had opened all the gifts, which took an hour, the girls played some games. Then everybody gathered to eat and bet on the babies name, size, weight, and sex. The winners got to be godparents because if they won it showed they knew the babies the best. Alexis and Ryan had already names picked out and choices to choose from so people knew what to write down.
When all that was done everyone hopped in a boat to cool down on the river. Alexis and Ryan got into a boat with Amanda, James and some other friends from school.
“You’re really going to have a contest for godparents?” Amanda said.
“Yeah why not?”
“Because I wanted to be one.”
“Well Amanda it’s not you’re choice. I think I’m going to choose Caleb and Roy now.”
Caleb and Roy who had been talking to Ryan looked up at the mention of their names and laughed. Amanda crossed her arms and huffed.
“Oh Amanda stop it. It’s my choice not yours.” Alexis didn’t like that her friend wanted to take her lime light especially since she was so pregnant she wasn’t in the mood.
“Fine then but I want to do something.”
“Uh you’re my best friend aren’t you?”
“I guess.”
“You make that sound dull.”
“No I don’t know I guess I just want to be a part of these babies’ lives that’s all.”
“Well don’t worry you get to be favorite Aunt Amanda who spoils these kids rotten.”
“That sounds like fun.”
“Yeah.”
“Yeah like the aunt that let’s them do whatever you won’t let them do.”
“Uh no there has to be some rules.”
“Okay”
“But you know I’ll need help since Ryan is working and I still need a study buddy who can help us with the kids.”
“Ok I’m in.”
“Good now lets just relax and feel the cool breeze.”
Alexis drank her water and fell asleep on the boat. They had gone pretty far away from the park when Alexis felt something painful in her back and stomach. She woke up and saw all the guys laughing and talking and Amanda sleeping. “Ryan we need to get back to the park.”
“Why?”
“I just don’t feel well and I’ll feel safer there.”
“Okay but its 15 minutes do you think you can wait?”
“Yeah.”
“Okay.” Ryan turned the boat so that they could get back to the park. Amanda had woken up and she sat by Alexis to help her feel better but nothing was working it just kept getting worse.
“Uh Ryan I think we’re taking in water.” Caleb said.
“No Caleb that’s not water.” Alexis breathed.
“Oh my god her water broke.” Amanda screamed.
“Ok um Roy call my mom back at the park and get him to call an ambulance.” Ryan shouted and then Roy grabbed Ryan’s phone and dialed as quick as he could. “James take the wheel.” James did as he was told as Ryan rushed to Alexis. “Now Alexis breathe like they taught us in class.” Ryan breathed with her to help her.
“Ryan I can’t it hurts too much.”
“Come on just hold on for a few more minutes were almost there.”
A few minutes later they arrived at the park and there was an ambulance. The paramedics helped Alexis out of the boat and put her in the ambulance. Ryan jumped in with her and they left everybody waiting.
“Ryan I don’t like you.”
“Don’t say that sweetie just breathe.”
“Don’t tell me what to do I’ll breathe when I want.”
“Don’t worry dude all women say that.” One of the paramedics said.
“Hey mind your own business.”
“Mam right now you are my business okay so breathe we’re almost to the hospital.”
Alexis did as she was told and prayed that the babies would come soon. When they reached the hospital she was pulled in and rushed to a delivery room. There wasn’t really anytime for drugs so she had to do it all alone. She pushed and screamed and couldn’t figure out why the babies were being so difficult.
Finally she heard cries and they weren’t from Ryan they were a baby’s cries. “It’s a boy.” The doctor yelled giving him to a nurse. Then the mood changed they found that the cord was wrapped around the babied head. They had to get their hand in deep enough to fix it and get the baby safely. A few minutes later the doctor yelled, “It’s a girl.” He handed her to a different room who took her out of the room to get closer attention. A nurse handed the boy to Alexis and all Alexis could do was cry. Ryan was crying too he was so happy that he got both a girl and a boy and he was just happy to be a dad.
Ryan came out to the waiting room like he had 6 months ago but this time with happier news. He saw his family and friends and couldn’t wait to tell them. “So?” both his and Alexis’s mom asked. “It’s a boy and… a girl.” He smiled. The whole room jumped, laughed and cried. Ryan led Alexis’s parents into the room so they could see their daughter and grandson.
Two days later Alexis, Ryan and Peyton Peter went home. Brooke Sawyer wasn’t allowed to go home for a week but soon they were all together. Beau and Bryan won the contest because they had weight, length and the sex down. They had picked the first names right but they also added in middle names that fit and that Alexis liked.
The four of them loved happily ever after.
[[[[ ATTENTION READERS: I decided that you like the story so much that I would kind of do a sequel but it would be about the babies . so if you want that let me know. If you don’t I won’t do it. And if I did do it probably wouldn’t be for a month I’m kind of tired of writing stories. Thanks for reading my stories hoped you liked them}}}}
