She was the most beautiful thing in all the land. All the single men in the village wanted her to be their wife. Of course Yvette was the princess and could only marry royalty the men still dreamed about it everyday. She was to turn 18 in 3 months and it would be time for her to get married and start a new life with a new family. Getting married was something she always dreamed of but she didn’t want to get an arranged marriage she wanted to find love her way on her own terms.

Her father thought it was preposterous for her to even think that way. Since she was born they had already set her up with a nice young handsome prince in the neighboring kingdom. Yvette had never met him except when she was born and he was five but that doesn’t count. She wasn’t saying that she couldn’t marry she just wanted to know if it was true love.

She wanted true love because she didn’t want to spend the rest of her life only pleasing her family and the people. She wanted to be able to please herself and live part of her life the way she wanted.

She didn’t know what to expect when in a just a few hours she would meet her husband to be and on her 18^th birthday she would celebrate with him and the next day they were supposed to get married and live happily ever after.

Yvette wished her life was like fairytale. She wanted the prince to rescue her and she wanted to magically fall in love with him. She didn’t want it to be an arranged marriage to someone she’s never met before in her life.

Of course Yvette isn’t the only one who went through this. Her mother was married to her father at 18 and they had met the day they were married. Her eldest sister was married on her 18^th birthday just last year to a very nice prince a few kingdoms away. She hasn’t seen her sister since and that’s what scares her the most. She couldn’t handle not seeing her family everyday. She was the second oldest in her family of eleven. She had seven sisters and 3 brothers. Mary, 19, was the eldest, then Yvette, 17, Robert, 16 Charles, 15, Emma, 13, Rose, 12, Gwen, 10, Henry and Emily (twins), 7, Angelina 5, and Sophia 2. She didn’t want to leave her family because she was so close to them. She couldn’t imagine what it would be like to not have the noise and chaos everyday. When she got married and had to leave it would be too quiet.

Yvette wished she could find a way to show her parents that what she needed was true love not nobility or royalty. He father would never understand but her mother might. She had to try and let her find true love instead of having an arranged marriage. She’d have to figure a way fast and she’d have to find true love fast before this wedding was to take place but now she had to get ready for the big dinner where she would meet her future husband. As she dressed she hoped that he would be the one that she wanted because if it wasn’t she would have to convince her parents that she couldn’t marry him.
