Kaci woke up in Jesse’s arms the next morning and she was a little confused about what happened the night before. She wanted to cry because she thought that maybe it was a mistake. She got out of the bed and looked for her clothes. When she found them she started to put them on but then Jesse woke up. “Why are you getting dressed?” he asked. “I need to go see my family and figure all this crap out.” She replied. “I don’t want you to go.” He whined. “I know but I need to. How about you call me and we’ll do something later?” she suggested. “Ok” he agreed. He got out of the bed and put on sweats and a t-shirt and watched Kaci as she finished dressing. When she was done they walked out of room and out the house to his car. They drove in silence back to her house. She hugged him goodbye, got out of the car, and slammed the door. He drove off as soon as she got out. She stood in the walkway trying to compose herself so she wouldn’t get mad or something. She almost turned around to run away but then Matthias opened the door coming outside and walked towards her. “Where have you been?” he yelled. “Out.” “Out where?”
“Don’t worry okay?” “I’m your brother I’m supposed to worry.” “Can we not talk about it?” “Fine” “So how’s it been around here?”
“Lots of fighting.” “What does she even want?” “Money.” “And Katie?”
“To make your life miserable.” “Do I have to go in there?”
“Yeah. Dad has been begging for you since they got here.” “Ok then I guess we should go.” “Yep”
“Now or never.” “Yep” “We could run away.” “We can’t leave Diego and dad in there alone.”
“Ok let’s go” They grabbed onto each other and walked up to the door. They each took a deep breath while Matthias opened the door. Inside her dad was fighting with her mom and Katie was teasing Diego. “Why hello Kaci it’s been so long?” her mother said with such compassion when she noticed they walked in the door. “And whose fault is that?” Kaci retaliated. “You have a point there. So how have you been?” her mom asked “What are you doing here?” “I just wanted to see you that’s all” “No it’s not the reason. Why don’t you just leave?” “Because I don’t want to.” “Dad we should have gotten a restraining order.” Her dad nodded when she said this.“Why are you being so difficult Kaci?” “Why did you leave?”
“Because I had to get away.” “Why did you fight with dad for so long?”
“Because I wanted to see you guys.” “Do you really think we want to see the woman who left us many times and slept with other guys behind dad’s back?”
“Oh come on I’ve changed.” “So you’ve gone from a slut to a bitch or maybe a slutty bitch?”
“Watch your mouth young lady.” “You’re right mom I’m more of a lady than you.” “You stop it right now.” “I will when you take Katie and leave.” “That won’t be happening.” “Then I’m not watching my mouth.” “You are being such a little brat.” “I learned it from the worst.” “Who’s that?” “You” “Oh you are so getting slapped in the face” Right then her dad stepped in. “You don’t even put one finger on her. Take your daughter and leave. You need to leave mine alone. You are not welcome in this house anymore just like you never were.” “You can’t do this to me.” “Watch me” he said opening the door. Her mom and Katie grabbed all of their stuff and left the house. They got into their car and drove away. Kaci couldn’t believe that it was so easy. She thought that maybe her mom just had to see if she was really ever welcome. Her dad shut the door and they all calmed down on the couch. “Where were you last night?”
“With a friend.” “Why?” “I couldn’t stand being near them.” “I understand what you’re saying. I wish I could have gone with you.” “Yeah.”
