I guess this is why I came to Earth in the first place, men’s entertainment.

That’s what my mom told me before she went to prison. She called me and my sister a slut and left. After that I seen her all over the news the next day for murder of a man she claimed was our father.

But who really knew who our father was? My mom was a prostitute. So what did she know?

My sister actually thinks we can get out of this neighborhood. As for me, I knew this was our home forever.

Me Tierra, and my sister, Stephanie now live with my Aunt Vanessa. She let us get away with anything as well, just not in her house.

My family is like a cycle. We’re all a prostitute or close. I’m not trading sex for money though. Maybe one day, just one day, I could make love to someone who would love me afterward. But until that day, I’m still just…I don’t know.

Now I was on the couch reading a magazine I stole from Jessica, a close friend. Then the house phone rang. I picked it up.

“Hello?” I answered.

“Where’s my magazine?” Jessica said fiercely.

I looked at the Ebony magazine and sighed and just told her the truth, “I got it. I forgot I had it in my hand and walked off. My bad,” I said shrugging my shoulders.

She sighed through the phone and sucked her teeth, “I don’t even care I already read it anyway. Are you going to that party at Robin’s house?”

Robin the high school queen at the moment and she was very popular. Not quite as popular as me but almost at my level. I just couldn’t throw any parties due to the ‘hood I live in.

“Yeah, I got to scoop up a dollar for the bus though.”

“Girl, it’s not like I can give it to you through the phone,” She said.

I rolled my eyes, “Did I ask you for it?”

She chuckled, “Shut up. Anyway, are you coming if you get that?”

“Yup,” I said looking around to see if anyone was listening.

“Good,” she said. “Be there by eight ‘o’ clock.”

“Gotcha,” I said.

“Ok, see ya,” She said. I didn’t reply and heard a click.

I hung up the phone and threw it on the couch and got up and stretched. Stephanie entered the room with some white short shorts on and a red and pink tank top and some red and pink accessories. She also had on some red and pink Nikes and her weave was done in a perfect ponytail. I was guessing she also heard of the party.

“What are you dressed for?” I asked.

She clicked her tongue and said, “A party at Robin’s. Why?”

“You heard too?” I said folding my arms and smirking, “You gon’ drink?”

“Maybe, maybe not,” she shrugged, “Who knows?”

I nodded, “Yeah whatever.”

“Are you going?” She asked.

“Yup, I’m about to go get dressed right now.”

I went to my room and grabbed something similar to what Stephanie was wearing but my outfit was black and blue.

I also grabbed a dark blue bra and panties matching set and my new black Nikes from under the bed.

I went into the bathroom, locked the door, and quickly jumped into the shower. I was in there for about 20 minutes and got out and got dressed. I grabbed my Auntie’s perfume and sprayed some all over me and extra around my neck. I walked out of the fogged bathroom and went to my room and grabbed my silver hearted earrings.

I went downstairs and looked at a digital clock which said 7:21. I sighed and grabbed my black purse. Luckily I did have a dollar. I smiled and grabbed the phone and dialed the bus company’s number. They told me the next bus from where I lived came a 7:43.

I hung up the phone and patiently waited as I watched T.V. I left the house at 7:38 and made my way to the bus stop.

I was approached by a old man, a drunk.

“Hey there young lady,” He said showing me yellow fucked up teeth. He smelled of alcohol and looked way too old.

“I’m 16,” I said smiling sarcastically.

“That’s alright,” He said still smiling.  

“Ugh,” I said rolling my eyes and turning away.

“Hey, I don’t bite,” He said grabbing my arm.

I snatched it away, “Don’t touch me!” I yelled.

“Oh c’mon now,” He said attempting to do it again and before I could react someone’s hand grabbed the drunk’s arms.

“She don’t want to be touched,” A deep voice that sounded no older than 18 said. He sort of swung the drunk’s away and the man walked away as if he just punked someone.

I looked into the guy’s eyes and said, “Thank you,” as I gave him a innocent smiled.

“No problem,” He said smiling as well.

“So what’s your name?” I asked.

“Corey,” He said extending his hand grinning.

I shook his hand. “Nice to meet you I’m Tierra.”

“Pretty for a pretty girl,” He said.

“I’m flattered though I heard that so many times,” I said putting my hands on my hips.

He chuckled, “I’m sure you have.”

“Tierra!” I heard a dude’s voice scream.

I turned around to see the most recent boy I thought fell in love with me, D’Wayne.

“What?” I asked annoyed.

“Who’s this? Your new boyfriend he asked pointing at Corey. I rolled my eyes.

“I just met him, mind your business.”

“Oh,” he said putting his hands up in defeat, “My bad my bad. So what’s up with you and me.”

“You should ask yourself that. I’m not trying to fuck with you. Got it?” I said with an attitude.

“That’s cold,” D’Wayne said.

“Just like you did me,” I said giving him the meanest glare.

He nodded, “Yeah right. You’re heading to Robin’s?”

“Yes. Why?” I said with more attitude.

“Just asking, but let’s be real for a second you’re not going to have fun without me.”

“You want to bet?” Corey said before I could respond, “I can give her the time of her life. That’s where I going.

I raised my eyebrows in satisfaction.

D’Wayne nodded and rubbed his chin. “We’ll see.”

The bus began to approach us. We all formed a line. I seen Stephanie running towards the line and I laughed. I looked at Corey and smiled and he winked.
