Freedom: the Cause of War
An Essay By: Esther A. Lovato
Many wars of our day have concluded the fight for freedom. The lives of many have been spent in these perilous times of unrest for the purpose of “One nation under God with liberty and justice for all.” 1. 1900-1917: The U.S- A world power 2. 1914-1918: World War I 3. 1939-1945: World War II 4. 1950-1953: The Korean War 5. 1965-1973: The Vietnam War 6. 1990-1991: Operation Desert Storm7. 2003- Present: Operation Iraqi Freedom Many wars have been fought in the past, in present times and I am sure according to the Word of God that many wars will come in the future. The revelations of these Wars that our military have fought are to give freedom not only to our homeland the USA, but to any country in need of defense when the cry for help rings out. . In 1900, the U.S becomes a world power. At the dawn of the 20th century, America had emerged on the world scene. Her victory over Spain in the Spanish-American War of 1898 had shown other world powers that the United States was a force not to be overlooked, especially in the Western Hemisphere. The victory had also provided an instant empire with possessions as far away as the Philippines bringing America success and recognition. World War I unveils in 1914, which set the world aflame. The cause, many people asked, was a safe democracy for America. World War I ends in 1918 proceeded with the beginning of World War II in 1939. America is concerned about Britain standing alone against the Nazi aggression. America joins Britain to defeat Germany while Japan stands alone, defiantly and the first use of the Atomic Bomb brings Japan to its knees. World War II comes to an end. The year is 1950 the start of the Korean War is at hand. The world had emerged from World War II and America sought after peace for its nation. It rapidly demobilizes its troops. The United States possessed the Atomic Bomb, making war a thing of the past. That is until the North Korean Army streamed across the border to conquer its neighbor to the south. America and the United Nations respond rapidly to this challenge but the lack of preparedness costs many lives. The situation was stabilized and following a brilliant offensive, the communist armies were thrown back only to surge forward again with Chinese support (1953) this was the end of war for awhile. The Vietnam War 1965, the American army advisors became involved in the guerilla war and the fall of South Vietnam to the north Vietnam ends this war in 1973. Operation Desert Storm 1990, there was aggression in the form of a new name: Iraqi dictator, Saddam Hussein. Operation Desert Shield begins and coalition forces are built up to oppose further violent Iraqi moves into the Gulf region. With initial strikes against the Iraqi military and a final victory brings down Iraq in Operation Desert Storm. And now a new war is started in 2003, Operation Iraqi Freedom. Our military went overseas not only to avenge the thousands of people that died in the Twin Towers, the Pentagon and the people in the planes that crashed, but to bring Bin Laden, the terrorist to justice, and later to free the Iraqi people from Saddam Hussein. A large number of people here in the USA did not comprehend why our military went overseas.People were making protests against the President for his decision. These people did not show their gratitude and support to the men and women who fearlessly fought for this freedom. These protestors never took into consideration that these who were fighting for freedom fought for the Freedom of Speech they were so freely exercising against our President and our military. Our military has played a key part in keeping the USA safe and unworried about freedom. God has been there through the fight. Let us show our thankfulness to these brave soldiers and may God continue to bless our President, our military and the USA!Comments
