Abortion is one of the most important and controversial subject of this generation. Unfortunately, 1 in 4 of this generation is not living because they were murdered before they were born! Have you ever wondered how many babies have died in the last 35 years (1973-2007)? The answer is Forty-six million, twenty-three thousand, one hundred ninety-one (46,023,191).
In 1973, the Supreme Court decision of Roe v. Wade and Doe v. Bolton fully legalized murder! The high court of our country had legalized abortion on demand. A woman now had the decision to abort, or in other words kill, her baby at any stage of pregnancy. Whether 6 weeks or 9 months pregnant, the unborn child was NOT considered a life.
Since that time, millions and millions of babies have been murdered each year. Did you know that 1 out of every 6 women have had an abortion? They merely think of abortion as a way of life, a choice. Sometimes I wonder if most of the young mothers who have had an abortion know when their baby’s life began. In Psalms 139: 13 & 15, it states “For thou hast possessed my reins: thou hast covered me in my mother’s womb.” “My substance was not hid from thee, when I was made in secret, and curiously wrought in the lowest parts of the earth.” Life begins at conception. Studies show that the heart begins to beat as early as the eighteen and twenty-fifth day after conception, and the brain begins to function as early as forty days! If every woman and young girl was informed of this and about the blessing inside her womb, how many would still chose death for the life within her body?
History states abortions were performed in an era of English Common and Ecclesiastical law. Women were told that the life of the baby began at the quickening of the baby, which usually resulted midway through the pregnancy. Amazingly, in 1827 Karl Ernst Van Boar acknowledged life began at conception and not quickening. Before this discovery, women who conceded to abortion in the first half of pregnancy had committed a misdemeanor (minor crime), and in 1869 the British changed the law dropping the felony punishment back to conception and the two-tier punishment was eliminated.
Sadly, this practice of legalized abortion has been widely accepted by many nations including our very own United States of America. Our nation, a land founded on Godly principles by Godly men, who feared the Lord, has now destroyed generation after generation of our very own people. Yet the courts of this land, placed here to judge righteously, to protect the innocent, have allowed such a wicked practice to become a normal way of life. It is a shame that these same courts have made laws protecting any form of animal life…but what about human life. It is very clear that if there is going to be a change we must take a stand for the Right of EVERY Life.
