The time i chickened out - christmas edition

the thing is i had to write a story on 'the time i chickened out' for my english homework. but i love to write and i would jump and any oppourtunity to get my stories seen by people i dont know. i thought id start with this one. please give it a chance.

so there i was. sitting there not moving, just frozen to the spot. they all stared in awe as if i was dead. i felt it inside, like i served no purpose being there. they all came to see me 'perform' and they were all thinking about when this would end. you never really understand that feeling until it has been experienced. lets flash back to when this all began. where my fear came from.

it was a crisp cold morning on december 23rd when i was promised a day at 'the bone'. every year my family and i would all go sledging at 'the bone' an area famous for its dangerous slopes. but a usuall, we were all having a good time when my dad got phoned in to work. it brought us all back to reality, from the snowy dreamland we were in. "sorry kids, its urgent i'll have to go. have a nice time." and so he was gone." oh. i better check on the mince pies. i totally lost track of time. sorry kids. have a nice time." and so our mother was gone aswell. "oh no! im supposed to be meeting Nicola in 10 minutes. we're going sledging. sorry kids have a good time." and so SHE was gone too. and she took our sleds.

it was just me and my brother left alone. we never got on so this would be a new experience for us both. we had to loan some sleds from our neighbours and we had a good time on the slopes. we only managed 10 minutes before we got bored." come on erin we better get going. its getting kinda dark." "ok, i replied," even though it was only 2pm we both knew it was nowhere near dark. we just wanted any excuse to go home. "one last go on the slopes and i'll e right behind you. just go ahead." "no i'll wait your too young to go by yourself."

so i was off. whizzing down the slope at very high speeds for a 8 year old. and thats all i can remember. the next thing i know im rolling down the hill with my sledge behind me. i had my eyes closed as snow, stones and sticks were flying in my face. my hands and face were stinging, i didnt know if it was the cold or the pain but the worst pain of all was my leg. i knew i wasnt rolling for long but it seemes like forever.

all i remember from then is lying on the ground at the bottom with callum watching over me. my vision was blurred but i could see he was distressed. "hang on he called i'll get mum!" and i was left there, it felt better to be able to cry alone than infront of him and that time i was alone flew by faster than when i was going down the hill. soon enough he was back and after a brief 'injury' check by my 11 year old brother. he was giving me a piggy-back home. a short walk away that seemed like ages when your in pain.

we were soon home in the warmth but when i saw my face i almost fainted with the shock. i was grazed, bruised and had gashes on it, from the debri, then my leg. it was bruised and very badly sprained, almost broken in fact. and since that day i have been terrified of going to 'the bone'

but my brother, well all his friends knew by boxing day and the next year they all came along on our day, our family day, and expected me to go down the biggest hill, the one i fell down.

so there i was dumbstruck at the top of the hill. shaking with fear or cold but either way i wasn happy. just sitting there watching what seemed like a million faces stare at me.

so did i go down the hill and did my brother get paid back?

i will write another enstalement if its popular enough.
