Question...

qn- is failin to reply running away... and does running away make the other person winner ??

when is running = scared vs. smart

Some of TEsty's beloved paradoxes
The walkin contradictions

1. claimin someone is a waste of time is simply acknowledgin that you have spent some time botherin with their 'stupid' comment
2. ... sticking a 'this doesn't make sense' when the social in question clearly has replies from people who do understand

Smith's TEsty analysis

1.What they say: "Well you're entitled to your opinion"
What they mean: "What the fuck are you talking about you friggin' idiot?"

2.What they say: "Why do you have to be so opinionated all the time?"
What they mean: "Why do you have to be right all the time?"

Sorry I was eating some fruit. I can't define a winner of a debate. A team of judges usually do that. There's no concise definition of a winner but there are some guidelines that judges use. If you want another example just watch the different news channels after a presidential debate. They all judge who the winner was based on their own set of guidelines.

Yes there's a such thing as a winner of an argument technically. But just because someone is a winner doesn't mean his or her point is more correct, it just means he happens to be better at defending it.

true once the persoanl comments come out...and for those who need clarification...'personal' as in attacks on race, sex, family, intelligence etc...

once they come out it's not doing anything but causing pain...it's not conctructive in any means

Well that's all just terminology but I just mean there's a line between a constructive debate or discussion or whatever and something that is just an anger driven argument that can and usually does turn personal.

That's true is is a power thing. But when it becomes that I usually get out of the convo because I'm not interested in fighting for power... others can have it.

a debate, yes...produces a good 'debator'...and as u said not necessarily the truth...

u can argue something down factually...they may not have anymore evidence supporting their point... but it is also very much a power thing...intimidation

lol, sure thing. Well I don't think that choosing not to respond is running away. I think in many cases it's wiser to listen more and speak less, and letting someone else have the last word doesn't mean they won anything. I think a debate mostly produces the better debater, not necessarily the truth. The benefit of a debate of course is the facts that are presented. I also think there's a difference between debating and arguing, and when personal insults start getting thrown I usually give up the conversation, but that doesn't mean I'm conceding my point.
