Really, people.... are you serious? lol
needless to say I ticketed him. for that and no insurance... ugh..

its okay. best par of my job is if they get too stupid, i just cuff them and put them in jail. and then other people can deal with them later.

actually we need it. even though we can find your licenses on record, the systems are always updated quick enough for changes on DLs, such as suspensions, or revocations. and you can't be letting people with that type of status drive (DWIs and shit). And Our systems aren't 100 percent up, so if we can't look up your license, we got no way of knowing who you are.

Plus, com on. In the addult world, its a responsibility to have an ID on you at all times. forgetting something like that isn't an excuse. Plus, most of the time, it was you who did something to get pulled over anyway, so your conviniance matters little.

I should add that I've had a cop not give me a ticket one time because I couldn't find my driver's license... That instance though, I should have gone to jail, but that's for other reasons entirely...

I think getting a ticket for not having your license is stupid... I never know where mine is, and the cop looks up to see that you have one, and then they're just causing you an inconvenience by having to take it to city hall to show that you have it... It's one of the dumbest tickets issued... The not having the proof of insurance ticket, I understand that one, but the license one is just dumb... It's just a way to get money out of people, because if they can't find it, they have to go pay to get a new one...

Yeah, I've gotten one before... haha!

how it works is you are technically (in every state, just about) you are required to either have liability insurance of some sort, or proof of financial responsablity. in other words, proof that you make enough money to cover anyone's property and personal harm in the case you wreck with someone and its your fault.

Now, tesas has something called Ensure, which is a system that we can tell if you are insured or not. if you don't have proof of insurance, but we can verify through the system, we can let you go, but we can also still ticket you for no insurance, but usually wont cuz it won't hold up if you hace proof to show the court.

We don't even need your number. we can just run your name and date of birth, but by law you are still required to have it on you. knowing the number helps, especially if the system isn't down. but even if we find your license, we can still ticket. normally, i'd let that go, but when someone says something like that too me.... they deserve it. and whats worse, the guy had no insurance on him either.
