Wrong. You would be correct if "self-regulartory" bodies for individual media (FCC for TV/Radio, RIAA for recorded music, MPAA for movies, etc.) didn't exist. In a perfect world, yes, you should be able to get away with showing whatever you want on TV, as no one person has the right to declare anything "smut" and believe everyone else to believe that same way. So now we have TV ratings, radio restrictions on language, "Parental Advisory" labels, movie ratings and heck, even video game ratings.

No it ensues freedom of speech. And somewhere in there media counts too. Although the station hosting it may refuse it. That's why theres a clear sign before the show that says 'show may not be suitable for kids under 14' er something like that.

The first ammendment in no way guarantees the right to show whatever you want to on TV.

Everyone has their own preferences of shows. (There's also the first amendment.) Some people find the rougher, less complicated humor more funny, even comforting. Shakespeare did the same thing with the grounldings and the higher ranking people. He would make simple jokes about body parts and such to lower class and to upper class he would make more complicated jokes. :D

It's probably because they get off subject to often.... Like the time you shot that homeless guy because he stole your burrito*flashes to a random scene*
