Samuel Clemens had one good thing I used when I tell people why I do poetry. He said in effect something along the lines of "people write poetry to muddy up the waters and make themselves appear deep."
are we talking famous ones or ones of note? cause if so ill tell you the same thing Ive told my Writing proffessor. Im uncultured and im a bit of an iconnoclast. To hell with the greats the soul of poetry is now....in the moment.
