	I don't think it is more common to be a lesbian just that it is more widely known.! If you think about it there has prbably always been lesbians just that they couldn't say they were until it became more OK in society.! Imagine people going around Victorian England saying they were a Lesbians.! There probably was lesbians just they didn't go around saying it.!

It seems that today, we call someone lesbian, or gay, or bi-sexual, when back in the day we just referred to them as promiscuous little sluts. haha Hey I'm not judging if one chooses to be a little whore bag, but lets not equate it with one who IS lesbian or gay. Not the same. JMO

	I think it's because we are moving towards a more open level of understanding, which is making more and more people come out than they might have ten or twenty years ago. However I'm also noticing a disturbing amount of media hype surrounding the idea of homosexuality as well, and I fear some are making it into a trend. I have a few friends who are genuinely gay, and one had just recently mentioned to me how insulting he found the joke the media, and it's like-wise followers were turning homosexulity. And I tend to agree; it should not be about status, and those who "come out" for the sake of shock value (making mommy and daddy angry, getting the attention from men/women who find bisexuality appealing, or trying to get attention in general), are mindless little fools who are only making it more difficult for those who are truly gay, and have truly went through the struggles that come with it. It's really no different than if I were to imitate the culture of another race; indian, black, chinese, etc. for notice. It would be offensive, and I would be a lying pretender.

	at my school it became a thing for the prep girls to 'come out' to being bi. when really it was to impress the guys (the whole girl on girl idea). and now not a single one who 'came out' has had a gf. it makes me mad because at the same time they look down on the people who really are gay, lesbian, or bi.
