I guess band is pretty popular...and yes, strings are hard to play and a lot of the time we come out squeaky if we have no idea what we're doing but we do have our merits....Look at the many movie soundtracks that are out there now. Pirates of the Caribbean, Lord of the Rings....
I'm in band... so I'd probably say band. But I've seen some really good choir so it's a hard choose. It'd hafta be a real good orchestra cause strings are notoriously hard to play.
That's cool. I have a friend that plays bass and electric bass. He hasn't tried guitar yet, but I'm sure he will before long.
The thing is that these days so many people are caught up in sports and everything else they don't give much thought to music other than to download it off the internet if it sounds good. It may not be in other places, but that's what I'm finding more and more here. People will donate money to a failing football team that hasn't won anything since the mid 90s, and they laugh at the music students, who have won almost everything they set out to win, who ask for money to fund their departments because the school districts don't see the point in music anymore.
My daughter was in Symphonic Orchestra last year. She plays bass and the cool thing about it is that she can now play guitar and electric bass because they are string intruments. Being able to play an intrument is awesome just find one that you think you will like and if you apply yourself you can find out what a true artist you are!
