Animal Rights

Aren't humans animals as well? Why do people think its okay to treat animals badly? To lock them in cages, put them to sleep, eat them, abuse them, breed them, use them for entertainment, etc? People make excuses for why this is okay. But the truth is that they are living, breathing creatures as well as we are. If you cut them, do they not bleed? If animals could verbally speak up for themselves, then people wouldn't treat them badly. People use the excuse that its okay to treat them badly because they cant speak up for themselves. So, is it okay to treat a mute person badly? No, its no. Animals have feelings, lives, and emotions too. Millions of animals are put to sleep each year in the U.S. alone, because no one wants them. Billions of animals die in animal testings. Millions of farm animals are forced to breed just so we can eat them....Hundreds of animals are beaten every day because they dont do what we want them to do. It's sad, really. Horrifying.

Abuse is never right. As for eating animals...that's one's own opinion on diets. Entertainment, if the animals are treated with kindness and the proper living conditions, then I don't see a problem with it, as the animals then view the whole thing as a 'game'. Although I love animals, and believe we should treat them right, I wouldn't liken an animal unto that of a mute person. Animals are not people, not because of the whole 'speech' thing. I wouldn't want to see an animal's life put ahead of that of a person. We can treat animals right, but we can't give them the equal rights of a person, as they are not people. Doesn't mean we should beat them, if anything, it means we have more of a responsibility for taking care of them, as the beings of more intelligence.

I write a letter to my state Governor each week with my opinions. Its a start .I also suggest what we can do to help the problem, like more tax money going to the shelters.

Yes, i agree that its okay if they are suffering. But i think its wrong to put them to sleep because no one adopted them. They usually only give them a 2 week period. Thats not long enough! I think more tax dollars should go to extending the animals stay at a animal shelter, and less tax dollars should go to unneeded things, like inmates watchng cable
