Phrase Not Lightly Said

A vice grip encircles my heart,

Wrenching my feelings to and fro

My head spins from every emotion

As I cannot see why I like you so

Your steady arms hold me down

When I feel as I may float away

That hazel gaze captures me

In all of its secrets, in all they have to say

A noise shatters the silence as the phone sounds

And I rush to receive it, hoping it’s you

How clueless I am, forgetting to speak

When I become lost in your voice, listening to words true

The warmth, the heat between our lips floods my soul

It takes over my mind, as within it reaches a boil

So very overwhelming is the passion

My knees go weak, and with standing I have trouble

Shall they matter at all: these words I may utter

For that fact that they have been repeated so

Can the fault be within me, that I shouldn’t find

A term for the feelings that set my face aglow

So sorry I am that I cannot seem to say

The matter that has completely taken over my mind

Except for the phrase one does not utter lightly

Except for the phrase one doesn’t have to look hard to find

It is always there, the words on everyone’s thoughts

And when picturing them but one face do I see

The one face with lovely eyes and handsome jaw

The face that seemed to find a “beautiful” in me

That one face with the label of “special someone”

Whose mere gaze saw completely through

My pitiful charade of hiding that one phrase

And so, her are the words: darling, oh darling, I love you
