Hanging By a Thread

I'm falling slowly from that mountain
The one I worked so hard to climb
If you were to climb that mountain
It is me, that you won't find

I had lost my balance long ago
And now I'm holding on by a thread

I'm surprised that I'm still holding, you know?

I climbed that mountain just for you
And I stood tall for so long

I realized you were never going to come

I had fallen for invisible bait

I was hanging over the side

There was nothing I could do
But I know I should have died

Only I didn't completely fall

But the thread is so small
I'm sure I'll soon be dead
