Disillusion

Views (144) Anger Created on 10-13-07 Flag
I think brother-in-laws
Aren't they grand
As he glares at my face
And raises his hand
The anger on his face
Is all you can see
As he takes a step forward
With momentum to hit me
So I take a step back
And start to scream
I call him a pussy, a dick
And every thing in between
I ask him if he really
Thinks it is wise
To hit my face
And give me a black eye
That if he does
Bones will be broken
To face all the men
Without a word ever spoken
Cause although they know
I can take care of myself
Battery on a woman
Is not stuck on a shelf
There is never an excuse
They all will say
After they beat you like
You're a lump of clay
They don't take kindly
To someone hurting their own
So if you do it
The gates of hell will be shown
As he just stands there
With nothing to say
I simply turn around
And walk away
As I get back home
With tears in my eye
I slam the door
But refuse to cry
He thought he was a man
And that he was strong
But men don't hit women
On that note he was wrong

tswieberg Nicely put. The man that hits a woman is a coward. I have been down that road many times and the best revenge is to walk away. I was lucky enough to get away with my life. Awesome poem!
