To the monkey on my bed..

You met me unexpectedly
We met there on myspace.
I was so cautious and frightened,
As I refused to show you my face.

You said you found me beautiful,
So pure and full of poise,
This would of course surprise me,
I've had bad luck with boys.

I was so skeptical,
Too picky, and so brash,
But you kept trying, and trying,
Even if i would just lash.

We finally met on the 27th,
January was very cold,
We blushed and stared incessently,
As the movie reel just rolled.

We fell in love,
long and deep and hard,
I realized that you aren't so bad,
And i let go of my guard.

Letting go of my defenses,
I slowly let you in.
I smiled and you kissed me,
Second real date in.

On Valentines Day, we both shared something great,
First time for us to not be lonely,
On the holiday of love and caring,
We were each others one and only.

We've been dating now for a few weeks shy of a year,
And you know, there is something you need to hear,

You are the one, i wanna spend my life with,
you gave me a ring, and asked me a question,
a promise for us to up hold.
I love you now and forever,
Please stay with me,
Lets stay together.

This poem was dedicated to my boyfriend Charles, and the reason for the title would be because that is what he got me for valentines day. A red and black monkey.
