To afraid to leave |
To afraid to leave
Nursing her wounds
she stood between heaven and hell
the pitter patter on the window pane
she hears the angels weeping for mercy
her stomach nervous
her heart splitting divided
hating love and
loving hate
The demon's rage was coming soon
the door flies open
with a swiftness he enters
she begs for mercy
with mock humility he asks
that she be okay
he's sorry again
she shuts down inside
numbed by fear
says a silent prayer
afraid to stay
afraid to go so
she convinces herself
to do better next time
she believes he's truly sorry
his eyes stand fixed
reading deep into her soul
then thoughts flash by
of her life with him
quietly she wipes away
his tears and sighs
then tries to smile
the pain radiates quickly
as she's reminded of how
careful she must remain
not to make him mad so
she nurses her wounds and
stands between heaven and hell
condemns herself to this purgatory
and the pitter patter
on the window pane
still reminds her that
the angels still weep
