Underwater

Close your eyes,

Hold your breath,

Push yourself underwater,

And begin to drown.

Pierce your ears

With the beautiful voice of relief.

You can’t do anything right,

Let’s see how right you are when you’re dead.

Take a deep breath,

Feel your lungs fill up with water.

Any guilt you had,

Floats away with your heartbeat.

Despite this sudden dizziness,

You push on,

Further down, underwater.

All the color turns to gray,

It isolates you from fear.

Time passes in slow motion,

You quietly wait

For this underwater world

To pull you down for good.
