Poisonous Illusions

I scream into the empty sky,

Only to hear my voice’s echo.

I’m so tired of wiping these tears

Away from my cheeks.

Just one night of peace, please.

Happiness is a poisonous illusion,

One that rips you up,

And leaves you helpless.

Sometimes it’s too much to take.

Yelling voices vibrate in my head.

The hope that I insist on keeping

Tears a hole in my stomach

That never goes away.

The shooting stars don’t care about me,

Because this war doesn't end.
