It was the written language to all who used to know
But to the rest, it was smeared below their eyes,
the ink running across the back of their minds.
Under the rule of the next great man
they strove and tired quickly,
resisted exhaustion, yet
 toiled on.
No matter how much they didn'
t want to stay,
There they are still, though a mere collection of bones
buried away in the history
of clocks and old stones,
wont to continue chained to the past
never again able to return home.

ausjo Wow. I really enjoyed reading this. It is different to a lot of poems on this site, and so it was most refreshing. Good one!

jazzyacorn This reminds me of our history classes, imperialism and all the negative effects of power hungry forces taking over all the smaller countries. I like the way you described weariness in the 4th and 5th lines, makes me feel them wearing out. This other side of you is interesting, makes me wonder in a different perspective =)of your mind.
