I'm not a lost cause.

I'm not here to be yur target

to take your blame and scorn and ignorance

I'm not here to be looked down at and forgotten about.

 

Don't accuse me of not trying

Just because all you see is the outside of me

You're blinded by desperate perfection

demanding everything and offering nothing

I dutifully lower my head and flatter you and answer properly

 

Because of this, I haven't

asked for help in so long that

it seems I've forgotten how...

jazzyacorn I know this isn't exactly what your trying to convey, but in a funky way, this reminds me of when the girl in Akeelah and the Bee recites a speech by Nelson Mandela: "Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure.It is our light, not our darkness, that most frightens us..."
Ooooh...I love the last line-very intriguing the way it leaves room for wondering. I love this phrase "demanding everything and offering nothing"- it seems perfect in an argument.
