I am the sea of water that supports
the titanic ship sustaining my friends
who nurture me carefully
as I keep them afloat
I am the song of a bird
rhythmic and sweet
but a mess of jumbled notes–
yet somehow pleasant and reassuring
I am a gem of jade
impenetrable by hateful words
impossibly difficult to be sculpted
yet my colors hold the ancient key
I am a unique, distinctive tune
I create my own melody
without shame, it rings true,
its resonance is playful and free.
