I Tell Myself

Views (107) Other Created on 9-10-07 Flag
I beat her in a game
winning first place
I tell myself it's not over
it was really only one race

I score all the top numbers
awards and certificates fly at me in large sums
I tell myself it's not over
it has only just begun

My knowledge surpass that of all the wise men and women
sending their brains to kingdom come
But I tell myself it's not over
The end has yet to come

--

Every time I advance in life
I tell myself this is not as good as it gets
I put myself down
to make me work harder

I don't believe in contentment;
because happiness isn't my goal
I strive to aim higher
"get better than an A, put out over 200%"

I tell myself it'll never be over
each task prolongs the prologue
with no end to look foward to
Because an end will never come.
