Afraid

I'm afraid of being myself
because what if people don't like what they see?


I’m afraid--

I'm afraid to say yes
because I don't know what I'm getting into.

I'm afraid to say no
because I don't want to miss this opportunity.

I'm afraid to accept
because I don't know if I'd adapt.

I'm afraid to cut my hair
because short hair can't curtain uncontrolled emotions.

I'm afraid to go on
because what would I do without you?

I'm afraid of storm clouds
because the sun might never come out again.


I’m afraid--

I'm afraid of being replaced.

I'm afraid being rejected, of being turned down.

I'm afraid of dying young and not being able to embrace life to its fullest.

I'm afraid to call
because I wouldn't know what to say.

I'm afraid to fall in love
because what if it's the wrong guy
and all I'm left with is a broken heart?

I'm afraid to tell you that I love you
because what if you already love someone else?


I’m afraid--

I'm afraid of getting lost.

I'm afraid of waking up to face reality.

I'm afraid to lose my dignity.

I'm afraid to lose my thoughts.

I'm afraid of saying goodbye
because I do want to see you again.

I'm afraid of guilts and regrets.

I'm afraid to one day look for my friends to find them gone.

I'm afraid to finish this piece
because what if I'm unable to write another ever again?
