Short Eternity

Views (50) Passion Created on 6-2-08 Flag

You still are her hope, her thoughts, her prayers, her life.

Even now, when you're not of it anymore.

Made sure of her invisability in your sight,

But she's still hangin' on, a prisoner of a gruesome war.

Oblivious, you've out faked yourself this time,

No, don't tell her you're sorry for going away.

You just leave, don't ever haunt here again,

And just get over him, Allison Renee.

She counts the days, how long she's gone without him,

And knows its like an alcoholic's first week of abstinentity.

Not much longer now, only the rest of her life.

But not to worry, because that's one more short eternity.

Calypso32 I must applaud your metaphor usage, I just can't get over some of these lines that you use. this poem reminds me of a note of a survivor, raw and hopeful. Very, very well done!~L

shorteternity Abstinentity actually isn't a word, I made it up. It now means the act if being abstinent.
