Why Is It We Pray?

Why is it we pray

For all that we need

Asking God to do something

We beg and we plead

Why is it we pray

For the sick to be healed?

When grace has been given

Our spirit’s been sealed

Why is it we pray

For all that we’ve got?

He’s already moved

Our petition’s, for not

I think God must at times

Sit scratching His head

Wondering why that we ask

For what was bought, Jesus bled

Salvation is more

Than forgiveness of sins

It’s healing, deliverance

The anointing He sends

The word says that we’re

To lay hands to bring health

To plant generous seeds

To multiply wealth

I think that we spend

Way too much time asking God

For what He’s told us to do

With His staff and His rod

So why is it we pray

For all that needs but received

I now say but thank you

Since this truth was believed
