Solitary Reflection

I love to camp beneath the stars

Far from all the city sounds

Alone I have a chance to breathe

Free from smog and racing cars

In this freedom hope abounds

I love to stare at the stars

Reckoning back, my youth naïve

Seeing all of their twinkling lights

Sustaining me in a world marred

A phoenix flame, smiting my grief

I relax as all tension unwinds

Genesis dreams from zero ground

The dew on the grass from the morning mist

Reflects the stars that I saw in your eyes

As we looked for forever but never found

I’ve got my cooler of beer

And my thoughts wander aimlessly

Fishing in the midday sun

Are you proud of who I am dear?

Are you there? Do you see me?

I ask this of the apparition

Through the trees, it seems to roar

With out you here, what am I to do?

What's in it's cache of intuition?

I can't stand to be lonely anymore

The wind blows a sudden gust

A piercing gaze through the lakes ripples

It reaches out as I do the same

Yelling at me in disgust?

It was my reflection, I giggle

I have to rest, and put my anxiety at ease

But Forget Me Not flowers adorn the shore

Are you trying to speak to me dear?

I've tried my best, it's hard to please

While your presence haunts me evermore

I close my eyes, haunting memories I try to forget

You said, you're my sunshine and my star

I relax as all tension unwinds

You light up my day, even if you're far
