Touch The Wind |
DARKENED SKY
I awoke this morning to a darkened sky
The sun had yet, the dawn to grace
I fixed my coffee, made my toast
Combed my hair and washed my face
I didn’t worry that maybe today would be
The day the sun didn’t rise
No, I knew it was coming, I expected it to
Past experience had made me wise
And as sure as it had the days gone past
Light over darkness overcame
‘Til the sun hung high, in the morning sky
And for the day it would remain
Isn’t it odd, how we seem to have such faith
In the things that our eyes can see
Yet when it comes to God, in our darkest hour
Do we wait for Him, expectantly?
Or do we wallow and fret when rough times hit
And forget all the times He’s been there
Do we doubt that He’s watching, and guiding us through
Giving us power, the storms to bear
Well just like the sun will rise and fall
and rise again each day on the ‘morrow
I know that the Son of God is there
To help me in times of sorrow
I keep a joyful heart and watch for the signs
Giving Him praise and gratitude
Knowing He’s working behind the scenes
Gives me hope as my new attitude
I wait for my breakthrough, I don’t bask in my pain
He says “my child, why do you cry?”
Lack of faith is the variable, the constant blame
Doubting Him being reason why
So as sure as the sun will rise and fall
And rise again each day on the ‘morrow
I will ask, believe, receive, have hope
And be joyful, in the midst of sorrow
Then little by little, glory to God
The Son overcomes my plight
Through abiding in Him, even when times are rough
Darkened skies only last for the night
