I AM MY OWN WORST ENEMY

I am my own worst enemy

I have the power to walk away

I must choose to follow Thy will, not mine

Each and every day

 

The path He lays before me

Is not always clear to see

I don’t always understand the “whys”

Of what He wants from me

 

But I don’t have to know, I just have to trust

And be willing to obey

I am in His hands, and in His care

And He will guide my day

 

But I am my own worst enemy

God gave me my free will

The forces of evil are all around

And today they tempt me still

 

But God graces me with His glory

And in return I must do the same

For if I choose to ignore His will

I’ve only myself to blame

 

He planned my days before my birth

With a specific purpose in mind

He gave me His son upon the cross

So I won’t get left behind

 

He wants me in His heavens

And I know this to be true

And the fact that you live and breathe today

Tells me, He wants you too

 

But you’re your own worst enemy

You have choices you must make

Accept that Jesus is the Christ

I pray, in His names sake

 

Believe in Him as He believes in you

And walk the road that “He” has paved

 

It may be rocky and all uphill

But it’s the path we choose when we are saved

 

Don’t be your own worst enemy

Don’t stay blinded from the light

Open your eyes and receive the truth

Let Jesus restore your sight

 

This world and all that’s in it

Will one day come to pass

But I know in my heart, that there is a place

Where we all were made to last

 

So let’s join forces against the enemy

The enemy that is ourselves

Let me love you, and you love me

And we'll restore our souls to health

 

Take my hand and spread the message

There’s so many who are lost

It should be our pleasure to do God’s work

No matter what the cost

 

Let’s not be our own worst enemies

Pray for me, I’ll pray for you

For Jesus loves me, this I know

And I know He loves you too
