Tragedy of a Lover Blind

He feels raw, exposed, and infected
Tainted by each scar left on his heart
He feels lost, alone, and rejected
Each stabbing pain tearing him apart
He feels broken, ruined, and destroyed
He’s so far gone, he won’t revive
He feels drained, empty, and void
His shallow breath keeps him alive
He feels worthless, confined, and weak
Trapped in this torturing existence
He feels cold, desolate, and bleak
Blind in an ever isolated trance

He doesn’t see what’s staring him in the face
The love he’s given in her warm embrace
Ever doomed to this living demise
Unless he can open his eyes
-
She feels worried, afraid, and weary
Trying to heal his scars with her tears
She feels fragile, pathetic, and dreary
It’s hard to stay strong, to persevere
She feels frantic, hysterical, and uptight
Listening to his heart beat off and on
She feels at fault, remorseful, and contrite
Despite all she did, he’s already gone

She loved him with everything she ever was
For all he had been, even with his flaws
So when he passed her heart did too
Eternal love is always true

I have to say that I love this one. I love the choice of adjectives-it adds so much to the overall feel of the poem. Makes it more personal. Wonderful job w/ your rhyme as well. :) |
