Hosanna

Views (33) Lyric Created on 3-27-08 Flag
There is a note, a secret note
That neither king nor jester knows.
It says the days have come and gone,
But on and on wind blows.
The water runs
From here to there
And never where it’s needed,
And when the crow
Creeps by the wind
It shrieks out its Hosanna.

Hosanna on highest,
Hosanna the Earth
Hosanna on the hearts of gold,
Hosannas’ right by birth.

Let it sail from mountaintop
And to the lips of prayers,
Where shrieks and screams are quiet,
Where boys slip down the stairs.
But come nightfall
And spider’s crawl
Then sing your love’s Hosanna.
And then your time
With me is done.
Then sing out your Hosanna.

And when the gun is at your eyes,
You tell me what to do.
Ancient rhymes and poet’s lies
Can’t beat a hardened heart.
All I’ve learned
Love’s never yearned
For sense and solid reason.
It’s beaten down,
It’s dark renown
This is your sweet Hosanna.

Hosanna on highest,
Hosanna the Earth
Hosanna on the hearts of gold,
Hosannas’ right by birth.
